1977 chevy silverado starter

I just installed a new starter on the truck and when I turn the key nothing happens

Are there two wires going from the selennoid on the starter and if so where do both of therm go. I only have three wires that were conected to my old starter with one of them going to the selenoid. I wonder if one was torn off and that is why the truck won't start.

In addition to the other solution, did you replace the silenoid. If it is bad, you will get the same results.

Does the new starter work has it been tested? is the wires on your starter in the correct position? Is your battery fully charged? did you install it correctly?

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado. Occasionally when I turn the key to start it nothing happens. I have power, all lights come on. There are no noises or anything. If I use the remote starter, it works.

sounds like the ignition control switch has gone bad. all light will come one but if you turn to start and nothing happen but works with remote starter then the first thing to get checked is the ignition control switch.

I installed a new starter motor in my 1977 1/2 ton Chevy. Hooked up all wires, hooked battery back up, turned key on ignition some dash lights and fan motor came on but not even a click from the starter.

If this one is from somewhere like Auto zone or O'Reilly's, it is possible it is bad. Double check all of your connections and tighten as neccesary. Take jumper cable and test the starter out of the truck if neccesary. Let me know.

When i turn the key to start my 94 chevy truck, nothing happens. the battery is good, the lights do not dim when i turn the key. Could this be the ignition control module?

if you have a standard transmission, check the switch on the clutch pedal,if you have an automatic trans, check the purple wire on the solenoid while a friend tries to start it to see if the power is getting to the starter,if it is replace the starter,if not check the starter relay first, then the neutral starting switch.

it sounds like your ignition switch could be bad, it is mounted on the steering column under the dash, it is the actual switch that activates the ignition and starter when you turn your key. if it is going bad it will give the same symptoms that you have described.
