Check your radiator fan and the thermoswitch, maybe its not working or if this are working have your cooling system thermostat checked by a mechanic...if the temperature still goes up, have an engine tune up...

Why would gauge cluster not funtion until interior temperature reaches a certain level?

Could be a weak connection in the wiring harness going to the cluster, or inside the key switch.

I have 2008 PT Cruiser; getting P0128 code; I've changed thermostat & temperature sensor; I have to fill the anti-freeze container every 2 weeks; temperature hand will not always be at half way point. ...

This means that the engine's PCM detected that the engine has not reached the required temperature level within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. The intent of the P0128 code is to indicate a faulty thermostat. In determining the engine did not reach a "normal" temperature, it takes into account the length of time the vehicle has been running, the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor reading, the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor reading, and the speed of the vehicle.
A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
  • Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
  • Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
  • Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
Past experience indicates that the most likely solution is to replace the thermostat. However here are some suggestions on troubleshooting and repairing a P0128 OBD-II code:
  • Verify coolant strength & level
  • Verify proper cooling fan operation (check if it's running more than it should). Replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • Verify proper intake air temperature (IAT) sensor operation, replace if necessary.
  • If the above items check out good, replace the thermostat
you have all ready replaced the thermostat with the proper temperature opening thermostat(hopefully) and coolant sensor, you say you have to refill the coolant every 2 weeks this indicates that you either have a coolant leak that needs to be checked out and repaired or you are burning coolant which indicates a possible head gasket problem which will have to be checked. a low coolant level will set this code as there is not enough coolant in the engine to get the engine to operating temperature and stay there. these last suggestions is where I would start to look.

Will not restart

Sounds like vapor lock. This is when the fuel turns into a vapor before reaching the engine (it needs to be in a liquid form). This is usually due to high temperature from the engine and environment. I would have someone check it out.

97 chrysler concorde lxi wont blow hot air

before doing anything, make sure your coolant level is up to the mark on the reservoir bottle, and that the car actually reaches correct operating temperature. on this car, temperature is easy to check because there's a gauge on the dash. after warming up, the needle should be about half way up. if it isn't, replace the thermostat.

if none of those things are wrong, then there's a malfunction in one of the blend doors in the hvac box. gaining access to that is extremely involved and best left to a very experienced mechanic.

My 2001 mercury sable runs hot (temperature gauge goes high then drops back at half also

Check your coolant level visually by removing the radiator cap (only when it is cold). Also make sure the coolant temperature sensor for the cooling fan is functioning properly. These are set to operate the fan when the engine coolant reaches a predetermined temperature. These go bad in time and need replacing. Sounds as though yours may be working intermittently.

My sunfire overheats and leaks out overflow everytime i drivee it.i changed water pump, thermostat the fan is working fine and had a water pressure test done last mth

DID YOU BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM.TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM, FILL THE COOLANT SYSTEM THROUGH THE RESERVOIR TANK OR THE RADIATOR UNTIL THE FULL COLD MARK IS REACHED.BESURE TO USE 50/50 HALF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.YOU CAN BUY ANTIFREEZE THAT IS ALREADY PREMIX 50/50.AFTER ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO RESERVOIR OR RADIATOR FILL RADIATOR TO FULL MARK OR IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP ON RADIATOR POUR ANTIFREEZE IN THE OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY THE FULL COLD MARK.WAIT AWHILE UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.NOW INSTALL THE RADIATOR OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP.START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED AND THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE BECOME HOT.STOP THE ENGINE AND OBSERVE THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVERFLOW JUG. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE FULL HOT LINE.ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL UNTIL THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS REACHED THEN CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL IT SHOULD BE AT OR ABOVE THE FULL COLD LINE.ADD MORE COOLANT IF NECESSARY. WARNING BECAREFUL WHEN OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP OR JUG OVER FLOW CAP.USE A LARGE RAG OVER THE RADIATOR CAP TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN BEFORE OPENING RADIATOR CAP OR OVERFLOW JUG CAP.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

Car keep over-heating on a 2005 chevy equinox

Assuming that you already checked for the engine oil and the radiator coolant level, and if they are ok, then open the hood of your car and start your engine, then go to the front of your car and watch out for the fans, they are gonna be off when you start your car, but keep looking at them they should activate when the engine is hot enough. They should activate just before your water temperature gauge (instrument pannel) reach half of the way. If the temperature gauge goes beyond that (overheating) and the fan hasn't activated yet then two things can be wrong your water thermostat (makes the fans activate when your car reaches aproximately 90°C) or your fans could be burned. I hope that helps

My temperature gauge will go half way then drop

First thing you need to do obviously, is check your coolant level. If coolant level has been checked and all is well, then I'd look at replacing the thermostat.
