Where is the expansion valve located on a '97 olds achieva?

If you do not know where it is,you do not
have it in your hand, thus you do not know
how dirty it is,it can be cleaned,no need to
replace it

What happens next-- you go to a repair shop
to have a vacuum pulled, leak tested & charge
the system

Are you about to polute the atmosphere, once
you open the system?

Did you have a compressor failure?

Where is the VATS/Passlock/passkey located

Hi, you have Passlock, which uses a sensor in the key barrel to signal the PCM to enable the injectors. If the sensor fails, you have to replace the key cylinder and barrel. Alternatively, you can purchase a bypass system. Here are a couple of links to view:

Want to override passlock system. fuel not pumping

Hello: There is not any over-ride to by pass the pass lock system. It works in conjunction with the class 2 communication system and the engine computer. For the car to function it will have to be diagnosed and properly repaired.

I think the passlock is enabled is there a way to disable the passlock the wants to start but after reading the manual it seems to be the passlock

you need to take off the cover by the gear shifter and there will be a black and yellow 20 gauge wire cut both wires turn key to on for 5 to 10 min then start car your passlock is now disabled!!!

The car fires but stops immediately

I had a problem with a 97 Achieva recently.Someone else replaced the PCM/ignition switch and passlock sensor.I replaced the ICP.Engine would turn over but wouldn't start and the security lamp was dim and flashing and then it would go solid.I tried the wait 10 minutes thing but,the light would never go off! I put the original passlock sensor back onto the lock cylinder. But this is what fixed the problem.I cleaned the contacts on the black wires and green on the ignition switch with tv tuner cleaner! After I cleaned those contacts the security light was flashing brightly. So I turned the key to run and left it there. After a few minutes it stayed on solid.I waited about 10 minutes but the light never went out.So I turned off the switch and then tried starting. It started right up and the security lamp flashed and then went off.Has started every time since.Note:I also scraped the pins that I cleaned with the cleaner with a knife.

Security light flashing and car won't start now

does it start at all, or does it run for about 1 second and shut off? if the latter, then it's the passlock system, and he could have a defective key or security module. the keys have a predetermined resistance value which activates the passlock system to prevent hotwiring. If it is the passlock system, then sometimes you have to wait 15-20 mins for it to reset before starting the engine.

I have a 1997 olds achieva where the security light cam on while starting with a remote starter. How can i eliminate the passlock . I dont care for the security.

In your BCM (Body Control Module) there is integrated a TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) that is probably faulty. I saved my car in the exact same situation with this: . It was the only way. The author says it works with PassKey and VATS, but It works perfectly with Passlock too as the only difference between those 2 systems is that in PassKey the resistor is in the key, while in Passlock, the same resistor is in the lock ...that's where the names come from... :)

Starts but then it shuts off

Make sure those 3 wires on the passlock sensor are good. That sensor is on the lock cylinder on the right side of the steering column. You may want to check the wires on the ignition switch also.(green,black).But I would look at the sensor 1st since that is where they hook up those remote starters as far as I know.
