The click noise can be one of the following:
1. It can be the solenoid clicking without contacting.
2. It can be the solenoid contacting but the starter motor not contacting due to poor brush contact.
3. It can be the above two contacting but the starter pinion is struck on tothe flywheel.
4.It can be all the above but with a bad battery.

My 2000 honda accord ex wont start,

Is it a single loud click when you try to start it? Or multiple clicks or "buzz"? If it is a single click heard from the engine, your starter has likely failed. Test the battery first, and inspect the battery cables/connections for any looseness/corrosion.

When trying to starter the van i left both heating controls on high and the radio ....all the dash lights appear up normally, and just as the engine was about to start everything died and it doesn't...

Check your battery and connections. Sounds like either the battery is dead or the battery cables are loose. Could also be a relay or inline fuse but unlikely. Especially check the ground cables and make sure the body and engine are properly grounded.

Best of luck, Jim

Overheat won't start

You may have locked up your Engine when it over-heated, so take a socket and a long breaker bar. (a socket that fits the Crankshaft bolt) and attempt to turn the Engine. Should it not rotate 720 degrees, the Engine is locked up and you may be looking at another Engine or used Engine with a guarantee.

When i turn the start key jn my Nissan Primers (52 reg)it tries to start then a click is heard and the electrics turn off. I turn the key off and it all resets, i try starting again and a click is heard...

The clicking usually means that the battery does not have enough charge to start the engine. Try just turning on the ignition and starting the windscreen wipers. If they move really slowly then your batter is low. Try recharging the battery for a few hours using a car battery charger. Try to the start the engine again after it is fully charged. If this works but then the battery goes flat again, you may have a problem with the alternator, or the battery is not correct for the car (the bigger the engine, the heavier duty the battery.

It wont start , has a click-click -click sound when you try to start it

Try trouble shooting by using another battery to start the vehicle. If it does not start, then the starter must have gone bad.

When i start my lucida it cranks once ,then clicks and clicks and

go ahead and jump it. your battery is dead or you have a bad connection with the battery cables. try jump starting it or at least hooking up a battery charger over night. (the engine size of the vehicle wont determin if it will be able to jump start the other vehicle.)

Starter motor just clicks, not cranking : knowledge question

you mention it almost started which suggest the motor turned over... if it did that it's not seized. i would hook the jumpers on for about 15 minutes before you even attempt to start the car. if the starter still won't work... hit it with a hammer as you attempt to start it... if it starts up you likely need a new starter.

1998 Audi A4 2.8 won't start

Does the clicking happen when you try to start the car? If so, the battery may be flat, try to jump or bump start the car. If the clicking occurs when running, check oil level, if this is ok there maybe engine damage. Do not run and seek advise from a garage.

is the earth cable giving a good engine and body contact.does your starter have two terminals and if so are they the right way around?is the battery any good?Is the engine able to be turned over by hand Make sure you have agood 12v supply to the starter solenoid when cranking the engine An engine test probe/light would be of a lot of use for you to do that test
