On Ford models, its usually to the right side/front (if your standing at front of eng compartment) with a large fill mouth and cap. What are the icons? You should be able to find those in either a Haynes or Chilton manual (or your owners manual if still available) for your veh.

Why does power steering fluid level drop when running?

problem in the valve controls for the power steering
take it to an accredited steering specialist shop that handles your make of vehicle and have it pressure tested and properly diagnosed

there should not be any drop as when the steering wheel is turned the oil on one side of the steering valves pushes the piston across as the oil on the other side is returned to the reservoir when there is no steering action the pump just circulates the oil via a bypass circuit and so the oil level is stationary
However discuss this with the specialist shop to make sure that you understand how it works

How to chan,s power steering fr0m car to car

No bleeding required, just top up oil after the job is done. It will make a noise for a short period of time until the air is gone.
Fill reservoir, move steering wheel without running engine 2-3 times from left end to right end. Start engine, steer again. Keep toping up oil until the level is not going down again at running engine. Road test and check oil again. Done

We have a 1997 toyota camry, my daughter has been driving it and was checking the wrong dip stick, hense the engine needed to be rebuilt due to running w/ no oil. the mechanic replaced the seals, pt head...

I would think that the shop would have seen a problem with the belt, but you never know. You might think of that when you consider the oil use, my best guess is that whom ever rebuilt the engine installed the piston rings up side down. That would make it use the oil. The power steering fluid must be leaking and could be many things but sense you just had the engine out I would look around the lines were they attach to the pump, also some times there will be some oil use after an overhaul until the piston rings seat but this seams like to much oil use for that better go have a long talk with your shop...

there should be a picture of a steering wheel on it. generally if you are looking at the engine......its on your left/the cars right hand side towards the top. It is the only reserve tank up that high
