Question about 2005 Dodge Neon
The fuel filter is in the tank with the fuel pump they call it a fuel module now. if you think this is causing you a problem you should have a fuel pressure and volume test done as this would show if the fuel system is restricted. If you look at fuel trim values on the scan tool data that would be the first indication if the system(computer) was trying to add fuel and couldn't.long term fuel will show more than +12% which means the computer is trying to enrich the system but can't if the trim value exceeds>+22 or so. normal values are in the +/- 0-10% that indicates the computer is seeing the proper fuel mixture. there are a lot of sensors/mechanical items that can turn the check eng. light on and pulling the codes and looking at the data stream is only giving you a place to start.
