2003 trailblazer L6 is having a problem that make the tachometer jump around sporadically almost if there is a transmission problem. i believe this could be electrical though. no codes are showing up at the moment. it only runs sluggish when going about 45-75mph. Any experts have any ideas?

Hi! Most likely that you may have a vacuum leak, try checking the engine by opening the hood and check the bottom too then look all the way to the muffler ends, then see or hear a unusual nose. If everything is okey. then you might having some H02 sensor problems. Most of the time some fuse Relay are the cause why you wont get any reading when you try to scan. best of luck..

Hello TMAF...

TRIED most of that TOO...

Finally my codes... said the OXYGEN SENSORS were complaining... OBD... DTC
(on-board-diagnostic... DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES)

So... of course I changed the... OXYGEN SENSORS.

The "NEW" OXYGEN SENSORS complained just as well...

I have subsequently learned the "SENSORS" are
just doing their job...

In my case reporting on a collapsed catalytic converter.
(muffler is actually a MORE common blockage).

A little hunting around... like Auto-Zone ... Napa auto...
Pep-boys... O'Reilly Auto Parts... even MIDAS might

Just remember to wear your best SALES RESISTANCE...

(Unless FREE, I'd make a SPECIAL note (YELP) on
that "shop"... THEY ARE CLOWNS...!!
(in my humble opinion... not MECHANICS)).

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with a malfunctioning tachometer and speedometer. What is the likely part I need to replace?

Sounds like a bad speedometer sensor. Usually located on the transmission. The only way to fix the speedometer is to replace the sensor.
The Variable Speed Sensor (VSS) has failed. You will have to get it replaced. Both are driven by an electrical signal sent to the cars computer by the VSS, and converted to SPEED, and DISTANCE driven.

2003 Trailblazer L6 running very sluggish. The only code the ECU is throwing is a P1481 code which upon some quick searches is the fan clutch. That shouldnt have anything to do with the poor performance...

Code P1481 - Cooling Fan Speed Sensor Circuit

Several owners repair this sensor and connections, but the problem come on again; I suggest replace the sensor; this is built into the fan clutch.

Hope helps.

Speedometer and tachometer jump when starting

I am assuming you have a 4-speed transmission?
There are 2-speed sensor on the front of the transmission. Input and Output Speed Sensors.
They are level with each other, right above the top line of the Solenoid (wiring harness goes into this box-like assembly) The one that is closest to the Solenoid is the Input Sensor. The one (at the same level) towards the left side of the van is the Output sensor.
I believe a 1-in wrench will work, after you unplug the sensor. Torque going on for both is 20 ft-lbs. Before replacing the sensors - you may remove the sensors and clean the metal particles off the interior tips of the sensors and reinstall and check operations.

2003 Trail Blazer Tachometer .... I passed

The trailblazer / envoy vehicles have instrumentation problems. A sweep test with a scan tool will likely reveal a problem with the tachometer in your instrument cluster. It can be repaired by any number of dedicated repair facilities or the entire cluster can be replaced. I heard that there is a recall of these, but do not know for certain. It might be worth a call to a chevy dealer to see if it is.

2003 trailblazer, some of the guages are not working, the battery guage, the tachometer, and the speedometer

On the 03-06 Trailblazer instrument clusters this is a common problem. It's caused by failing stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board and it can be repaired. Check out this facebook group dedicated to the problem - My Trailblazer Gauges Are Driving Me Crazy!

Tachometer and speedometer don't work - they go to the bottom and don't move

If by the bottom you mean 0 then this might not work but I had a similiar problem with my tachometer. It was starting around 4 rpm (instead of 0) and would move up and beyond 7 when I would accelerate. Found a post saying to put the car in reverse, turn the engine off and then try and start the car 3 times (in reverse). Amazingly this worked perfectly and reset the tachomoter. Might try this for your problem.

I have a 2003 trailblazer. I had to jump start it today and alot of functions no longer work like power window, AC, radio, interior lights, dash lights, etc...can anyone help.

You may have blown the fuse for the whole car when u jumped it, if you jumped it the wrong way. Get a test light or multimeter and check for a big blown fuse. its goin to be probably labeld as the fuse for the battery i believe
