Your fuel pump is inside the fuel tank, to change it, you must take a safely precution. to replace the fuel pump, you must pull out all the power connection to gas tank, wiring, and specially all that can contain Fire. Make sure that there is not much gas in the tank. my advice is let the profesional meachanic do the job for you. My question is have change the fuel filter? cause most likely te fuel filter go bad first, before the fuel pump.. What seems to be the problem with the car?

How do I replace the fuel pump on a 2001 Nissan maxima

The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. Some vehicles have an access port under the rear seat or in the floor of the truck that can allow access to the fuel pump without removing the fuel tank. If your does not, you must remove the fuel tank to get to the fuel pump assembly.

2001 nissan maxima engine misfire

The Fuel Pump, I assume failed & was another issue

The Fuel filter is changed every 3 years, as preventative
maintenance

The Codes for the most part are O2 Sensors, that are over six
or seven years old & over 100,000 miles & should be replaced
as preventative maint or if they fail ,sooner

You don't throw out any what if senerios, or replace any parts
in an effort to resolve anything

You component test & replace only failed parts, related to the codes
& system that has a fault & drivability symptom

You should know if the spark plugs are over 3 years old

Clean the MAF Sensor & check for vacuum leaks on the entire car
