Question about 2002 Buick Rendezvous

1 Answer

I have an 2002 rendezvous with 144k miles. When I drive it, under any condition, the moment the car runs at anything less than 2000 rmp's, it feels like it is going to die. I will cruise the roads at like 45-60 mph and it just hesitates like no other., If I am feeding it gas, unless it is a ram on the gas, it hesitates. Nobody can tell me what is happening. Any ideas? Thought maybe it was the fuel pump??

This is a long shot but try unplugging the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. It is located in between the air filter housing and the throttle body. It may or may not idle but if it does take it for a test drive and see if it gets better. Preferable somewhere that doesn't have a lot of traffic.

My battery was disconnected now that the battery is back connected I'm having a hard time getting my 2002 Buick rendezvous to stay started and I do have an alarm system

It's my understanding that on these cars if you disconnect the battery for an amount of time the car computer shuts down and all the memory is lost till you reinstall the battery again. Then it takes a while for the memory to come back. The engine will stall and not run properly till the computer completely resets itself. They say just drive it and eventually in a few miles it will just keep getting better .
Hope it works for you.

Why want my 2002 Nissan Altima want rev over 2500 RMP?

It sounds like you have a problem with the AWU. Accelerator Working Unit, a fancy term for the gas petal. If it is not getting the proper voltage to the ECM it will default to a RPM like you are geting, 2000-2500 rpm. Find one from a junkyard and try it out. I would not shake anything that will just cause other issues.

Don't worry about the fan. I think you have a bad temp sender unit. Replace that and see if it helps the stalling also. If not, go for an engine analysis. They will check for trouble codes and check engine sensor functions.

I have a similar problem to Trevor 8/18/12. My 2002 Rendezvous refuses to run after a rainfall. It idles fine, but as I drive, the engine bucks hard. The first time it happened, I pulled over, popped...

Sou. Like you may have some bad ignition wires, worn out spark plugs, or leaking coils. With the engine running spray the ignition wires with soapy water and then drive. If the problem is present replace the wires.

I am only gettin 10 miles per gallon on my all wheel drive

Have you had the spark plugs and wires changed lately? You may need a tune up. You may need to change the fuel filter as well. Make sure you are not leaking any gas at the lines or injectors. You may have a bad fuel injector also. Make sure all your tires are properly inflated because they can cause bad fuel mileage. Put injector cleaner into your car as well. This might help a little to. Any one of these can cause you to get less miles. If you have a question, feel free to ask. I will help you as much as I can.

Check engine light and lost of power

This sounds a lot like a bad TDC (Top Dead Center) sensor. Of the many sensors on this model vehicle, the TDC sensor failure is common and is one of the few sensor failures that will disable your vehicle.

Try replacing the fuel filter. If that's not it you might take your coil pack and get it tested at a parts store like Advanced Auto. Hope this helps.
