Question about 1997 Chevrolet Malibu
Follow the upper hose to the metal pipe that is attached to the lower intake mainfold. The thermostat is behind that pipe. They are a PIA to replace. You need a 13mm socket, swivel, extensions, ratchet, and 13mm wrench. Sometimes it helps to remove the throttle body. Most of the time they are replaced along with the lower intake gaskets which fail quite often.
