Front driver side cv joint?

could be top/bottom ball joint easy to check ,jack up so wheel off ground hold wheel at 12 o'clock and 6o'clock (the position not the time) and wobble back and forwards then do the same but holding at 3 an 9 if notice movement further investigation needed, while you wobble wheel get someone too look at top/ bottom ball joints ,track rod end if they dont appear to be moving then more than likely bearing this is best done with vehicle on a lift but should be able to carry out on the ground the cv joint could also be responsible but would need a garage to determine as a bit more complex

Creaking groan from front driver side tire

The creaking is coming from either the shock ,ball joint, or a-arm bushings. Have someone with you and one person pushing up and down, the other, safely feeling each component till the vibration can be felt. If it is in fact the ball-joint then as long as it is safe (not loose), then just add grease to it as needed and it should go away.

How to change a Xantia bottom ball joint

Depressurize the hydraulic system. Jack the front and put on jack stands (both left and right side). Remove wheels. Slacken and unscrew the ball joint nut partially. Release ball joint from knuckle using a proper separation tool. Once dislodged, remove ball joint nut and pull out strut/knuckle away from lower arm. You may need to push down the arm with a lever. Remove dust cover from the ball joint. The ball joint can be removed by unscrewing it using a tool that locks into the notches on the sides of the ball joint. Install new one by screwing in the ball joint back into the knuckle.Tighten well.

How to change driver side control arm

Take the wheel out, undo steering tierod end from hub, undo the bottom ball joint under the hub and lever the control arm down with a lever bar or pry bar and move away the hub from ball joint. You can now undo the control arm from the subframe.
Some models have 3 bolts on the control arm that separates ball joint, you can undo them as well without touching the ball joint. But most of them have rivets instead of bolts.

When making a sharp left turn (like into a driveway or parking space) you can feel & hear a thump. Just had driver's side cv joint replaced, that didn't fix the problem.

This is usually a ball joint. Jack that side up, and just as the wheel starts to clear the pavement, does the bottom slide out a touch? If so, replace you ball joints, and the problem will go away.

How do I remove the original ball joints?

An air chisel is the quickest way.Cut off the head and punch out the rest of the rivet, then replace with the included bolts. To separate the ball joints loosen the retaining nut until only one or two threads are holding it on,then hit the casting that the ball joint goes thru with a big hammer.Sounds weird I know, but the joint is angled and striking it straight on will force it out without even touching it.Hit the casting really hard and it will pop loose. This works for tie rods too,hit the casting that holds the tie rod and it will separate without damage. If you use a pickle fork remover it will destroy the rubber boot. After separating watch that rubber brake line.If you let the lower control arm go it will break that brake line so be sure it's supported.Good luck!
