1989 BMW 735i Hot start issue

After shutting off warmed up engine and sitting for ten mins. or so, upon restart engine runs rough and seems flooded and revving engine several times will clear problem, I know there is a cols start injector, but if car sits for only 2 or 3 mins. problem does not happen. Is it more likely that temp sensor is sending wrong temp, or that injector is slowly leaking down? How hard is it to change this injector?

You might want to try replacing your throttle return spring, or at least lift the hood and see if here is a change while it smooths out..

    • Look for visible signs of leaking around the cold start injector.
    • When foreign material gets into a cold start injector, it can leak. This will result in rough idle and backfire.
    • Residual fuel pressure (pressure remaining in the line after the pump is off) can cause the injector to leak. This can cause hard starting and an overly rich mixture during starting.

Restating 2000 odyssey after warmed up

not sure what that means.
lets start over.
your saying car runs great, cold then hot.
then hard to restart a hot engine, right?
the light thing i dont understand
first off, when you stall and engine or just key ON.
the lamps all self test (read the operators guide there)
this is only a lamp test.
odd, the most important is skipped the CEL, check engine light.
is the engine stalling?
hot restarts, fails are: many.
  1. injector leaking at shut down.
  2. ECT reads to cold when hot. can be below caused
  3. Engine thermostat stuck open and restarts are over rich and floods. that hot engine must be at 180F or more,
  4. never did a 60,000 mile tuneup this decade?
  5. Fuel pressure too high.
i do tune ups first.
then check coolant temperatures, hot. 180F min, and holding or i kick the thermostat to the curb (new stat time)
if it sill dont want to hot start
out comes the scan tool
i scan it, got DTC errors.
is ECT reading 180F ? or above?

that is start on diagnosis.

Does it crank? If you shut it off and you restart after a few minutes and it cranks but won't start or starts and runs rough the injectors are leaking and flooding the engine. Need better description

My Bmw 316i is overheat problem. after starting the engine within 15/20 min the temp gauge touch red light. I have change my water pump. one think i notice that the radiator coolant is not so hot, just...

You know most people think of the worst when it comes to these things. Try this, let your run for about ten minutes then shut it off. Feel both upper and lower hoses and see if they feel about the same in temp. If not than it could be your thermostat. If everything feels fine then you may have a bad sensor.

Car shuts off when it gets hot

your ignition coil are going bad, they need to be replaced. once the car gets hot the circuit shut down the car when hot. once they cool your riding again until they get hot. thats your problem. Good Luck

2005 monte carlo seems to run rough / misfire when warm.

Remove your ignition module and take it to a parts house to be tested. This is common behavior for a failing module after it gets warm. Have them check it several times to insure it gets hot during testing.

check your crank shaft sensor if it did not move and the clearance is 1 mm gap i think this is to close and when the car gets hot the clearance closes
