Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek
Hey i just got my pontiac aztek a week ago and the service engine light came on i pluged it in and it said 5th cylender misfire so i checked the spark and its great and the oil is clean and its not leaking any fluid it still drives fine and starts but when you let it idle you can hear its a litle messed up no ticking or nothing thow and also the exhause preasure isnt consistent it blows out fumes in like spirts or something but i herd that it could b bad valve head gasket cracked block dirty injectors so ya i drive a 2001 pontiac aztek with a 6cylnder so if u have any ideas it would b great if u could get back to me thanks
I myself am an Aztek owner and had similar issues.. Your case seems like it might be something more simple and you might be looking past the basic so let me suggest the easy stuff 1st and then move on to the others
1st pull #5 plug check condition and also check Gap ... so many times its just the gap on the plug
2nd Check or jsut relace the wire make sure it is not burned and that proper connection is made.
You have Clean oil and its not leaking anywhere as you stated so I would rule out head gaskets after I checked the antifreeze condition if it is milky in color bad news its a head gasket not its fine...
next I would do a compression test on the cylinder with plug out of cylinder in ? hook up your gauge and have a buddy crank it over compare it to all other cylindfers and see if you are losing compression if you are then you have bad rings ofr valve seals. a slight fluxuation in volume is normal not all will read same but a major difference means trouble...
BTW injectors on the 3,4 liter gm are mechanical and very rarely ever fail if it was injectors you hear a loud ticking and a few light taps will free it up
unfortunately you are still in troubleshooting stage please send me a message if you need someone to think it through with you again best of luck...

This may sound dumb, but my aztek said the same exact thing and the problem was in the spark plug wire. The end that goes over the spark plug had a loose fitting inside, causing a bad spark relay. Try replacing that, or at least checking it our more.
