Overhead console display problems

On my 2001 Grand Cherokee the overhead display loses the data, the horn will not honk on remote lock, the power windows will not work, the air conditioner will not work. Disconnecting battery and reconnecting it cures the problem for a while and it then returns.

Most likely you have a failing alternator, which you may have to replace. If not, you've got some serious electrical issue with your Cherokee. I cannot say for sure what needs to be done without actually doing a manual inspection and testing the wiring, etc. It would probably be best to get a mechanic take a look, as he would be in the best position to diagnose and repair the fault.

Hope that helps!

Sounds like a problem with your computer. If you take it to an AutoZone or similar store, they can hook up a device up to your computer and it will give out an error code or a list of error codes which can determine exactly what is wrong because this can be multiple things. Let me know how this goes and I would be happy to direct you from there. Also if you have any other questions or concerns, just ask as I would be more than happy to answer them.

If your vehicle continues to start ok and the lights aren't dimming, then your alternator and battery are fine and the problem will lie in the computer.

1993 grand cherokee how do you fix the overhead console

sometimes because of oxidation or cold solder problems those overhead displays cause troubles. they dont show at all or they show wrong info etc. you need to remove it and you need to resolder every soldering point own by own. this can save your unit. i did mine, it worked.

if it displays nothing there is a chance of being at end or its life cycle( i mean the blue colored display itself not the whole unit), if so try to find a replacement on ebay.

My horn used to honk when I locked my 1999 Jeep with the remote

If you have your owner's manual, there is a section that will tell you the exact sequence to press to enable/disable the horn bonk. It has three settings, chirp, honk, and off. The chirp is a really quick chirp of the horn. Honk is a longer honk. Off seems to be what you've set.

I hope this helps.

Overhead display shows vehicle not in park while driving and memory seat disabled

Not sure about the overhead display problem.. .however to fix the memory seat disabled issue:

The car not be moving, it has to be in Park and no seatbelt on. Try that and see if the seats work.

Thanks,
