dear mr bestdarngood please dont get ratty ofcourse i read your link it was the same thread as maklean and did not resolve problem,if i take remote out of range the problem still occurs sometimes it can lock/unlock continously for five minutes +sometimes not for 1 hour.there is something breaking down but what? ithought it may have been a common fault but it looks like a bit of dedicated testing, sorry for upsetting your humour,johnj167.

All locks work fine if using the manual or keyless entry.

All doors lock at the same time. Sometimes they lock and unlock and click a lot. Only does this with keys in the ignition.

Do you have multiple keyless entries for this car? If so does the other one still work, perhaps it just needs to be reprogrammed. Take it to your nearest Honda dealer and they should be able to get it working again. If it is constantly locking and unlocking, the computer could be getting a signal from the remote which would indicate a reprogramming is needed too.

Please let me know how this goes.

    Honda Keyless Entry Programming

The following are instructions on how to program your
remote transmitters for keyless entry. This document provides
details for programming a 2000 Honda Civic remote. The same procedure
should work for all of the following:

    1998 - 2002 Honda Accord

    1999 - 2004 Honda Civic

    1997 - 2004 Honda CRV

    2003 - 2004 Honda Element

    1999 - 2004 Honda Odyssey

These instructions may also be valid for other years
    and models.

This procedure clears the transmitter codes and creates
new ones, so you must program all remotes at the same
time, even if one or more is already working.

Enter the car, and close all doors.

Each of the following steps must be completed within
five seconds of completing the previous step. If you take longer
or make a mistake, start the entire procedure over again.

Insert the key into the ignition, and hold one remote
in your left hand. Whenever the instructions say to press
    the LOCK button
, you should press the lock button on the
remote for about a second and then release it.

Perform each of the following three steps in order,
then repeat all three steps two more times, for a total of three
    times each:

    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position,
    marked II.

    2. Press the LOCK button.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the Off position,
    marked I.

    Do this three times!

Next, turn the ignition switch to the ON position
    (II) for a fourth time.

Press the LOCK button again. The door locks
should now make a cycling sound, indicating that the system has
    entered Programming Mode.

Press the LOCK button one more time to program
this remote. If you have other remotes to program, press the
LOCK button on each one in turn. The door locks should
make the cycling sound after you press LOCK on each remote.
You may program up to three remotes, and they must all be programmed
within ten seconds of each other.

Turn the ignition off and remove the key. The remotes
are now programmed and may be tested.

If you've got a trunk/hatch release, hold the button
for this function for a few seconds.

Did you take a look at the link I posted at all?

sorry if I sounded sore, the link I posted was not the same. It sounds like a computer problem and you should get the computer tested at a shop or a place like AutoZone. Please let me know what error codes may come up. thanks

2001 Chevy cavalier Z24 keyless entry not working.

You should have it scaned to see if you have any codes. It has a RCDLR (remote control door lock reciever) this is the module that recieves the signal from the fobs. If it has a problem then the system will not work. If it has to be replaced then a dealer will have to program it for you. Good Luck

Keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.
