Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Stalling when engine temp reaches 160 degrees

I have a 94 JGC, had it about 5 years now. It has ALWAYS had a problem with stalling at stops, but has always started right back up, or if I placed the AT in Neutal in time, it would pick up adequate RPM's again and idle. No one was ever able to find out where that problem came from. I had to have the fuel pump replaced almost 3 years ago and we have done several other things to it for the stalling problem, that I read about online. (seems lots of ppl have stalling problems with these cars)
Now, it stalls every time it reaches 160 degrees F; and will not restart until hours later. Luckily, we have gotten the vehicle home now. We changed the fuel filter, before realizing that it was engine temp related, but now are at a loss as to what to do. Have been told that the cpu could be the problem and to 'hit it with a hammer'; lol. Done that, the test was a failure. The Jeep stills stalls at 160 degrees when sitting in the drive idling. Does anyone have any ideas? Call Price at 4097871583 or respond here. Thank you!

Have a 2002 Ford Focus. When stopping at the light, it idles fast and sometimes stalls.

hi, if you keep your heater blowers on,thus keeping engine temp lower, does this stop the problem? if so maybe exhaust temp sensor?? good luck

Here are my theories

Idle Air Control valve (IAC) - allows a small amount of air to pass though throttle body at idle since the butterfly in the throttle body is closed at this time - if this doesn't open the vehicle will stall

Air Intake Temp Sensor - Helps correct air fuel ratio by measuring the temp of the air coming through the intake

Oxygen Sensor - Largest determinate of air/fuel ratio after the vehicle almost reaches operating temp which is approx 160 degrees

Coolant temp sensor - Largest determinate of the air/fuel ratio from cold up to the point when the oxygen sensor takes over

EGR Valve - 5.2 Liters are known for these failing, they redirect a small amount of exhaust gases back into the intake manifold for re-burning (emissions thing). Sometimes they get stuck closed and allow for too much exhaust gas back into the manifold. But usually this would cause very poor performance as well as shuddering and stalling

Use what you know about your condition and what these common fail items are and see if any of them sound like the problem

My 1990 pontiac bonneville sse would usually stay started (IF it would start), but if we drove more than a few miles and shut it off, it was a gamble if it would start again-usually we would have to wait 8-10 hours or more and then it would start right up like nothing was wrong. For a few months this went on, sometimes it would start every time for a week, then we'd be stranded and have to leave it and come back several hours later- turns out it was the starter all along, replaced it and haven't had any problems since. I just didn't realize that a bad starter could be bad but still work some of the time over a course of months!

My 94 mx6 keeps stalling

I would not recommend throwing parts at it.
If the computer or O2 sensor is the problem you should have a check engine light on the dash. Usually the EGR valve causes a problem when you are slowing down not just on turns.
If you have not replaced the fuel filter this year I would do that to scratch it off the list.
The throttle position sensor could be failing but not to the point of turning on the check engine light. It can be tested with a meter.
You need to find out if you are loosing fuel pressure or creating a vac leak when the stall happens. Could be a vac hose or something that is moving when you are moving the engine.

2005 colorado stalling

Well I would start there.
The computer takes the engine and air temp and regulates the amount of on time for the injectors among other things.
Make sure the coolant level is full, the thermostat is opening, and see if the code comes back. Could be a faulty sensor.

It can be clogged intake manifold or issue with low fuel pressure or the problem is low battery voltage or issue with clogged fuel filter.Inspect all this basics. For more troubleshooting, click the link below and go through troubleshooting:----Stalls, Sputters and Pops Through Intake Manifold? http://whatisbyme.blogspot.in/2012/05/1995-toyota-corolla-stalls-sputters-and.html

94 Lincoln TC engine stalls when slowing/stopping

Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:
  1. When cold, car continually stalls
  2. When warm, car stalls when slowing down (especially if AC is on)
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.

2004 Cadillac Escalade Engine Stalling when idling in hot weather

Given your high guage temps of 210 degrees and high ambient temperature of 100 degrees, your engine's stalling can very likely be linked to either one of these three causes: 1) vapor lock; 2) percolation; or 3) PCV malfunction. Here's a really good diagnostic article that precisely addresses this issue of yours:
