What is a pip sensor and where is it on my 94 grand marquis? 4.6 v8

  • Anonymous Sep 23, 2010

Does that engine have the TFI-IV ignition system, or does the engine have a distributor with the ignition module mounted out on the side of the distributor, or does the engine have coil packs instead of a distributor?

PIP (Profile Ignition Pick-up) Is what ford calls the pick-up coil in there distributors. But the 4.6 engine doesn't have a distributor. I'm guessing you are wanting to replace the crank sensor. It is stuck in the block next to the A/C compressor.

SOURCE: good engine swap for a 94 grand grand marquis

Another 4.6 out of a '94 Grand Marquis. If you can. That way all the sensors will be correct and the wiring harness will plug-and-play. You can install almost any 4.6 but, depending on the year, there's going to be a lot of issues making them work with the electronics in your '94 Marquis.

Will a 2003 mercury marauder engine fit in a 2000 grand marquis

Yes they both use the same basic 4.6 Liter V8 engine, the difference is the Marauder engine is a higher powered and uses Dual Overhead Camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder (DOHC) the Grand Marquis is Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC), it will bolt in but you will need the all the electronics and the wiring harness including the Powertrain Control Module/computer (PCM) to make it work. You will greatly increase the Horse power of the Grand Marquis.

This mercury is a 1994 V8 equipped. It sputters and and backfires through the breather like it would if it had a carb. It does this for miles even after prior warm up.

I'm having the same problem it sputters and backfires between 0 and 30 then just kicks in and acts normal recently did tune up. Any suggestions? Mine is a 94 grand marquis with a 4.6l v8
