Question about 1994 Hyundai Excel

1998 Hyundai Excel 1.8 autom. transm.

When leaving the parking lot with my 1998 Hyundai Excel, I felt the smell of something burning inside, I didn't pay much attention but half an hour later the engine stalled. Lights on the dashboard went very dim and all I got from the starter was a click. After resting for some 20 min. everything was OK, the engine started and I got home. The next day everything under the dashboard looked normal and the smell was gone, but I measured 12.25V at the battery terminals with the engine running, which points of course to alternator failure. I also noticed tha the battery indicator light is always off after the event. My question is: what else should I check besides the alternator. What could have caused the engine to stall?

Sorry, your plan sounds like it's worth the money but there's no way for me to send dollars out of this country (Venezuela), so my only hope is that you can post a solution for me on your site. Thanks in advance

Rubber Brake hoses are restricted & should have been replaced years ago, for safety & possibly the calipers are nothing but rust inside & go as well

No reason for those issues to ever happen on any vehicle

Replaced old brake pads with new ones and now my drvers side brake caliper is rubbing on the inside of the rim this is on 1998 Hyundai Excel

You didn't get it set in place correctly. Possibly a bolt came out also. Check this right away. I have seen these rub the rim and lock the tire up. No fun on the highway.

I have a 1995 hyundai excel 5 speed manual. I have replaced the air filter. the oil and oil filter flushed the coolant and the "check engine" light comes on all the time and whilst the car has...

Older cars leak. It is a sad fact. Small amounts of oil, transmission fluid and coolant hot the exhaust or engine block will give off a "burning" smell. It is good to be concerned, but likely it is not a major issue. Make sure all the nuts and bolts are are properly tight, and perhaps wipe down the reachable parts of the engine to help reduce the burn smell. As for the check engine light, most reputable auto parts stores can connect a small computer diagnostic tool to your car for free. It will give them any codes that have been set in your cars computer. Once those codes are written down ( have a pen and paper ready ) the can clear out the codes with their scanner and the "check engine light" should go away.

Smells like burning when heater is on. Think maybe the clutch is going out on the compressor. How can this be unplugged so the heater will work until the compressor can be replace in the spring?

You could unplug the connector at the front of the A/C compressor but it is more likely that your burning smell is coming form inside the heater box. You may have leaves or something that is laying up against the blower motor resistor, or it is just plain starting to burn out. Not an uncommon problem.

Excel 1.3 looks like it´s burning oil.-

first of all change spark plugs to the standards of the car ,, maybe you have bad spark plugs .. does your car have a white smoke in exhaust ? if so then its something has to be replaced inside 2 and 3 cyclinders thats an advanced failure
if you have no smoke in exhaust check top oil gasket .. when did you change it ?
