What could be the cause for my Security light inidicator staying on in my 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD? I have heard it may be something to do with the fuel tank but am not sure. The owner's manual says to bring it to the dealer but I would like to have an idea of the problem rather than blindly hand the truck over to the dealership.
On chevy the security is on the ignition cylinder not on the key so check the cylinder insteaf of the key question did you had an alarm installed on your vehicle?
That has something to do with the reprograming of your ingition key if you are having not starting problems i will recomend you to leave it alon but if you wnat to be in the safe side then call one of the mobile locksmiths guy or take it to them to see if the key has to be reprogamed, and try using only one single key for the ignition,

every since my high pressure fuel pump died and got replaced i have had the same issue. my light doesn't turn out it just stays lit and i have tried over riding it with possible options and info from the dealer but that doesn't seem to work. i have a 2001 chevy silverado 2500HD 6.6L turbo diesel 4x4.
