Cannot find where the sim card fits in a Jaguar XJ8 V8 1998
I have bought a Jaguar XJ8 1998 V8. It has fitted in the top of the arm rest the above car phone. The manual says that the sim card fits in either the phone cradle (it doesn't). Or a transeiver.I don' know where that is. It is not underneath the phone. Any ideas. The wired hands free kit has the speaker in the front passenger's well. The aerial is on the top of the rear window.Underneath the phone is a tilting cradle for the phone. The wiring goes underneath the armrest compartment and connects to a long flat wire. There is nothing else in this space. The phone is live and showing "Unregistered sim card" in the window. Please help I am running out of ideas. Motorola, Jaguar, Vodafone (Where I bought the new sim card from) The last owner (Never used the phone) NoOne can help me?????

The center arm rest is attached to the console by 2 small Hex cap screws. The arm rest and intermediate slide panel are attached to the same hinge assembly with rivets.
to replace the upper arm rest, 1st remove the assembly from the console by removing the 2 hex screws this will allow you to work outside of the vehicle on a work bench. 3 rivets hold the arm rest to the hinge. You will need to drill out the rivets using a 1/8" drill bit. and install the replacement arm rest using new 1/8" pop rivets.
There is a square plate, behind the chrome opener, prise this out and there is a screw behind it, there are screws in the bottom of the arm rest, the rest is just on plastic push fit rivits so the door card should just gently pull or prise free.
Try re-programming the remotes, here is the procedure for your car.

open bonnet...front of engine where the belt is,top pulley in the middle, then just above that pulley there is a black plastic housing with 3 x 8mm bolts facing forwards and the top hose connected to it,the thermostat is in there
they are pressed in, Jaguar uses a special tool which fits over the bushing and you have to use a press to remove them, sometimes they are so tight they need to be burped out with an air hammer.
Not a job I would tackle myself as you need to strip down the suspension to get the arm off for replacement.
