I'm unable to get my Rocky to move forward or in reverse. The motor is strong but I don't hear any signs of clutch/pressure plate movement as I work the clutch pedal. The pedal moves in and out normally, but no signs of any engagement. Is a clutch kit needed?

Hi, yes the clucth kit will contain the clutch and the pressure plate that holds the clutch onto the fly wheel and the kit also contains the thrust bearing. so the clutch kit will contain all you need.

One thing to make sure you do is clean the pressure plate as the metal surface that touches the clutch will have an oily liquid on it to prevent it from rusting when its on the shelf so clean this with a brake cleaner or other alcohol based cleaner as the plate needs to be free from grease and perfectly clean.

Hope this is some help to you any problems or questions just give me a shout back ok

Do I need a pilot bearing for my flywheel? No one lists it, for the Accord

You definitely have a pilot bearing, ask a. Napa dealer to find you one, if they don't see it in the book listed.
its going to be part of the clutch kit you'll be buying to replace your old one.
in the kits you get a pressure plate, release bearing, disc, alignment tool, and pilot bearing, Beck Arnley is a good choice.
if you want just a bearing you'll probably need, the input shaft diameter where the bearing rides, the inner diameter of the flywheel hole it's inserted in, and the depth of the hole in the flywheel.
you should have to much trouble finding one.

I have a 98 Nissan200sx 1.6l jst put a new clutch in and now the clutch padel gos to the floor n stays there. I was told maybe a new clutch cable would fix it but same thing I didnt put the pilot bushing...

The pilot bearing is the input bushing, this has nothing to do with the cable going to the floor and staying there,The clutch calbe is adjustable . You adjust it by pulling on the cable and leave a 1/4 freeplay your problem is you need to adjust the cable3_26_2012_4_14_57_am.jpg

Cant select gears in my escort gti, the thrust bearing is winding

this sounds like the throwout breaing is going or gone bad and may have lost it purpose of controling the pressure plate, by not being able to select a gear tells me something has gone bad in the clutch system like the bearing which pushes the pressure plate to release the cluch which allow ****** to stop spinning so that the gear can be selected. the repair for this would be to replace the clutch kit. the clutch pack will come with new bearing clutch disc and pressure plate and if needed a polit bushing, the whining noise was a warning that something in the cluch system was going bad.

Clutch help!!!!

Every clutch has a "throw-out bearing", and the proper term is Release bearing.

You should purchase a good quality complete clutch kit, and make sure that the clutch kit also comes with the pilot bearing as well. Be sure that they re-machine your flywheel to restore proper clutch operation.

Here is a link for you check out for yourself, and you can see that the release bearing and pilot bearing are both included in these clutch kits. You should then be able to purchase a new clutch kit from your local parts store.
