There is a roaring noise in the drivers side front end of my 2000 cavalier. I changed out the wheel bearing but the noise is still there. The problem completely wore out the inside half of the tire, replaced tire to be sure I did not have a broken belt - no luck. A ny ideas?

Re: front end noise cavalier
Hi, this sounds like track rod ends have gone this is for the steering and causes the tyre to where in one point these are cheap to buy and easy to fit but you will need to get the tracking set after replacing this part as it needs to be set to stop your tire wearing uneven the noise your getting will be from the tire on the road as it will be forcing the tire to run uneven so getting this checked would be my first choice. Hope this is some help toy you let me know how you get on or if you have any questions ok

WHEEL BEARING USUALLY STARTS MAKING A ROARING TYPE NOISE WHICH USUALLY GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU DRIVE, SOMETIMES THEY WILL BE LOOSE , TO CHECK JACK UP THAT WHEEL AND GRAB TOP AND BOTTOM OF TIRE AND SHAKE, IF THERE IS MOVEMENT, TRY TO GET SOMEONE TO ROCK TIRE FOR YPU AND WATCH WHERE AXLE GOES INTO CENTER OF BEARING AND SEE IF AXLE IS MOVING WITH TIRE MOVEMENT AND SPINDLE REMAINS STATIONARY, THEN IT IS BAD BEARING, OR SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NO MOVEMENT, THEN BLOCK REAR WHEELS AND RUN CAR WITH THAT WHEEL IN AIR AND SEE IF YOU HEAR NOISE, GOOD LUCK.
if its like a humming noise its the wheel bearing if you ga straith and move the stering to one side noise there move to the other side noise is less wheel bearing gone lift the car in the front ans spin the wheel manualy listen to see whisht bearing make the noise change that bearing hope its a fix for you and rate a fixya for me if any other question feel free im here thank you pierre
If your turning your car to the right when it make the noise or the Left Listen and find out because which ever way the noise is loudest usually meaning that is the side going bad, Thats the rule Usually some cars and trucks have fronts and rear bearings, But I think it is a wheel bearing, Have a mechanic or a friend that may turn some wrench's Check it out for you. Hope that helps you out. :))
