I have a 98 Ford Explorer. Was driven yesterday and today went to go somewhere and would not start. I know it is not the battery its brand new. Its not the corrosion of the battery connection. I am thinking maybe it might be the starter. Please any advice would help

First make sure its check out right. you should get a signal leaving from the ignition switch before anything. you can also try to jump the starter it will engage the solenoid if still good. try them two first

Check at the starter if it has never been changed it might have a push on spade connector that isn't making a good connection. Unplug and plug back in to see if this helps. If that doesn't work make sure you have juice on the small wire at the starter when the key is in the crank position. If it does then it probably is the starter.

When starting it sounds like it is puttering and then stalls out. If I try to start it again, it wont start. Almost like it is flooded. I have a 1998 ford explorer with a little over 117,000 miles on...

I've got the same (1998 exploder). Someone went through the neighborhood trying to syphon gas. My truck started then sputtered out and now wont start. Gas is showing half tank plus I added 2 gallons Spark is good and gas pressure is reading 40psi(normal). Everyone else's including my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica started. I need help. Did you find something out that may help?

sounds like it's the motor is going bad or has a bad connection, try cleaning the connector if there isn't any gunk in the connector, check the manual see if there is a ohmn test you can run on the motor, if not i'd replace the motor.
