I'm having the same problem. About halfway through the top closing routine the top stopped in the middle of the process. There are no warning messages on the dash so I proceeded to close the top mannually. According to the Owner's Manual one of the reasons for the mechanism not to work has to do with insufficient battery capacity so I intend on taking it in to check the charge. Other than that, I'm sorry to say I have no solution as of yet.

Power roof will not open on my 2003 Audi. Any solutions?

  • pigman77 Jun 10, 2008

Same problem - I had to manually close the roof. Tried to put it up and nothing - no error message, no sound from motor. Now it wont go down - windows come down as usual but then nothing else happens, just a faint sound like the motor struggling. I'm loathed to take it to Audi as they'll just connect it up to their computer and charge me £50 to tell me it's going to cost a fortune to fix and no-one but them can do it.

It happened to mine as well. When I took it to the dealership, they explained that if the top is interrupted while opening or closing (sometimes unintentionally our finger may slip off and stop the process for a brief time) the top can get out of synch and needs to be reset. They did some type of fuse reset and then it worked fine.

You can try to close it manually using that key, then taking the fuse out, checking to make sure it is okay, then putting it back in. It may solve the problem.

How do i close rear roof manually on a audi q7

Sunroof? Auto roof? Any roof... It could be as simple as track or parts obstruction, an electronic malfunction or reprogramming. Dealers are usually the ones to tackle but might depend where you are. Simply what I've heard others say a out these issues and having experienced a sunroof issue or two myself, which is considered a 'roof issue' that many would not attempt to fix because there are many ancillary damages that might occur during diagnostics (water sealing, tubes, wires, springs) - just very many moving parts. My convertibe Audi A4 roof is not closing, it stopped 3/4 way, what do i do, i have tried pressing the buttons, back and forth?

Look in owners manual,it will show you how to raise/lower roof with tool end of dash driver side
Once you have the tool the best way to reset roof is to manualy lower it and lock rear cover
Two people helps to lower as you have to lift front of roof and lift rear
When rear metal cover is unlocked push roof fully down and lock cover
The roof should then work with the switch

My soft top is not working, wont go down, when I release the catch the windows go down and when i press the up button to close thr roof the windows close but roof doesnt

No doubt your soft top issue has long been resolved but just in case someone has a similar issue:
I started to open my A4 Soft top externally using the door key method and like an idiot I must have disengaged the key before the soft top was fully down. I was unable to activate the opening or closing of the soft top automatically using either the key or soft top switch inside. I then manually closed the soft top using the users handbook and manual tool supplied. Soft top would still Not open automatically and the soft top alarm would activate. I solved the issue by manually opening the soft top fully and then manually closing the soft top fully. This seemed to have reset whatever had gone askew.

Volvo V7 '01 sunroof will not stop in closed position

I think I know the answer....your gear has slipped on the cable a few teeth. Set the roof to the desired closed position, flush with your roof. Then open the panel above the mirror by first prying off the switch plate and removing the two 10mm bolts holding the mirror. Remove the sunroof motor gear, or rather just lower it out so it is disengaged with the cables. Now connect the switch and hit the auto open button as if you wanted to open the roof with single flick of the switch. Now hit the auto close button (same button of course, but the single touch method). The motor will advance and stop to where it thinks the roof should be, closed, which it is. Reassemble the gear into the slot, test it if all good, replace the mirror and panel.
Good luck.
Manfred.
