There are 2 oxygen sensors... one before the cat, and one at the back end of the cat. If the code says "heated O2 sensor" then that is the one at the back of the cat, and is more challenging to replace.
It is a different sensor, so you'll have to buy the correct one for the heated sensor.
mrans that thedealer has no idea so go to an accredited service center that has experience on your make of car and have it fixed properly
could be an oxygen sensor after the cat converter, heated oxygen oxygen sensor before the cat converter or a wiring problem
You can't. O2 sensors up steam have a heater and an element . When the element is bad there is nothing to clean. A lot of u tube sites show soaking in cleaner or cleaning the shield around the element but that will not change the chemistry. I wish it was that easy but a lot of time researching and money on cleaners a new one from the Internet is the best way. I bet your code says bank 1 sensor 1 bad.
Hi there, The emission control light can come on for many reasons There are many sensors which the ECU ( the cars computer ) gets its imformation from to control the engine and therefore the emissions eg. Oxygen sensor, airflow meter, inlet air temperature, water temperature etc. The best way to find the fault is have a diagnostic check done ( code reader ) this will find the problem and avoid guess work which will in the end save you money. One of the common problems with VW is the spark plug coils, but to play it safe and get it checked I hope i have been of some help to you John ( John South Wales UK )
Hi:
The Number 1 Heated Oxygen sensor is located in front of the catalytic converter. You would need to get the car up in the air, and then disconnect the electrical connector, and possibly need a special socket to remove the sensor. Also remember to purchase and use Oxygen sensor safe anti sieze compound on the threads of the new sensor, if you do this your self
It's located near the cam gear on the front of the engine however, the crank sensor, to the right of the oil filter near the bell housing is the part notorious for going out on these cars, and causing a p0322 and/or p0341 code, and sometimes others as well
To replace the crank sensor you have to: Support the motor with a floor jack.
Remove the starter, 2 of the starter bolts connect to the motor mount.
Remove the motor mount from the frame, very easy. Remove the oil filter.
That will give you just enough room to get an allen wrench in to remove the bolt holding the sensor in.
