Your car is a little unusual. Here are the exact procedures according to autozone.com. Let me know if you need the photos and I'll post them somewhere you can get at them.
    All 4 Cylinder Models

The thermostat is located in the bottom of the water pump housing.

If equipped, remove the lower engine shield.
Place a large drain pan under the vehicle to collect the coolant.
Remove the radiator cap and drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
On 1.8L engines, remove the water pump housing drain plug.
Loosen one bolt at a time until coolant begins to flow.
Remove both bolts and remove the thermostat.

    Fig. Remove the housing bolts

Fig. Once the bolts have been removed, pull the thermostat housing away from the bottom of the water pump unit

Fig. Note the position of the thermostat and gasket

    To install:

Install the thermostat using new O-ring.
If removed, install the water pump drain plug with a new O-ring and tighten to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
Torque the housing the bolts to 88 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
Top off cooling system with the recommended fluid and concentration. For additional information, please refer to the following topic(s): General Information And Maintenance, Fluids And Lubricants.

How do you reset the stereo to a 97 passat glx vr6?

try undoing your battery for a few minutes. if that doesnt work look in your cars manual if you have one under radio and it should tell you. if nothing else call your dealer and ask their service dept. if they dont know ask for a technician or call a local repair shop they are pretty knowledgeable.

Trying to replace my heater core for a 1994 Volkswagen Passat GLX VR6 2.8L can't find repair manual can anyone help?

take everything out, except the steering wheel and brake pedal, its th only way, seems complicated, but just tackle it, it goes quick. label things that you take apart and pay attention to how to route the wires again. the clips that hold together the vent system are a pain, I ended up not putting a few back on, big deal.

Thermostat for vw passat 1995 vr6

I have found the thermostat- it is located at the right end of the engine block- up high- follow the radiator hose from the radiator to the engine- the thermostat is right there. There are 3 allen-head screws (5mm hex) that attach the thermostat cover to the thermostat housing. The issue I am having is that I can't reach on of the screws. I need help.
