depends how long its been sitting if starts with easy start then its a fuel pump problem like the fuel has gone bad or the pump has gummed itself up ,so take it out and check that the pump still works as i suspect that its gummed up and good clean will cure it for you
it could be as easy as the raidiator temp sensor...
But could as easily be a fuel pump going bad.
The fuel pump is an easy one to do... as it is located right below the drivers side door on the frame... and has easy clips to unclip...
I would buy a new filter first though... it is just as easy... and in the same spot...
check fuel pump ground wire for clean wire to frame contact also check fuse and relay, jump power across relay to force voltage to the pump with pump relay out.
There is no in line fuel pump. The pump is in the fuel tank. Check for power at the connector near the fuel tank. Cycle the key and probe the wires. I'm not sure what color the wire is . If you have power there the fuel pump is bad.
it has both a fuel pump in the gas tank and the injectors in the engine...i own a 1993 forrd aerostar and replace the fuel filter, and fuel pump thats how I know...
