My 2000 Lincoln town car has been diagnosed as requiring 02 sensor replacement. Car has 220,000 kilometres on it. Can I continue to drive without replacing the sensor?

    Just keep driving ...



    You can fix your car for about $150.00 and improve your satrisfaction level as a result ... better mileage ... better performance ....



    otherwise ... just keep driving it until it stops ... and it will stop eventually due to this malfunction.

Yes you can still drive it. However your gas mileage will drop . Also it wont pass the smog/ emissions test if your state requires one.

Check your gas cap. If someplace can test it you might luck out. This website advertises manuals and info online. The evaporator cannister is suppose to purify excess fuel vapors. But a system which is not sealed will code an error lamp.

SOURCE: hi i have 2000 lincoln

this is an engineering part number off the part. not the service number.
the service numbers you can use are yw1z-13c788-BA or YW1Z-13C788-AA, or XW1Z-13C788-AA.

However, Gino on ebay fixes these for $175. Go to ebay and type in the serach box LCM Lincoln town car, and you should find him. He is is California.

Good luck.

It's under the dash above the steering column. remove sound cover for access.

1999 Lincoln Town Car shakes at idle. Cylinder 5 misfire and bank 1 and 2 too rich.
AC has nothing to misfires or o2 sensors.

Start with the basics.

Check the spark plugs, or perhaps just replace them all. Or you can test, put plug 5 in plug 1 swap. Does the misfire move? If it does, the plug is the issue, if it doesn't is is the coil pack to it.

Clean throttle body and MAF.

Clean EGR

Run car for a week, and if it is still running rich, change the sensors.

OR, just go to an auto-electrician with a $5,000 scan tool computer although with a 1999, the data will be fairly basic but will diagnose.

For 1999 Lincoln Town Car 4.6L SFI 8cyl the Oxygen Sensor is located under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, mounted in exhaust pipe, keep in mind that you have four O2 sensor.
