Air in the hydraulic clutch release System. The system consists of the clutch master cylinder, line, hose and clutch slave cylinder. Check the level at the clutch master cylinder. The fill reservoir is along the firewall on drivers side with a black cap. It uses DOT 3 brake fluid. Add fluid if low and pump pedal. If low you have a leak. If full you have a master cylinder internal seal bad so you have to have the master cylinder for the clutch replaced.
Look for a problem in the hydraulic clutch system. Sometimes the seals in the clutch master cylinder fail and won't push fluid through the line to the slave cylinder. Check if you even have fluid in the clutch fluid reservoir. Sometimes the slave cylinder on the transmission bell housing can also fail. Watch the clutch action at the clutch lever (where the slave cylinder will push the lever forward, if operating properly), while someone presses the clutch pedal. If you see no movement, one of your cylinders has failed, or no fluid is available, or the line is plugged, but that is very unlikely for a clutch line to plug up. If the clutch fluid ran dry, refill at the reservoir and bleed the clutch line, at the slave cylinder.
If you check your fluid in the clutch master cylinder and there is none that means you have a leak. Make sure you add brake fluid. Pull the clutch pedal up by hand and keep pumping it until you have pedal, than top it off with more fluid. This should give you pedal until you fix it unless the leak is so bad you can't get pedal. There is two places that leak. The clutch master cylinder or the clutch slave. You should be able to see where it is leaking after pumping the pedal.
Examine carefully to locate exact point of leak. Could be the hydraulic line, a connection between line & slave cylinder or master cylinder, or a bad slave cylinder. Once you identify the point of leak, I can help you with repair info if needed.
depending on the car, your fluid level resovior for your clutch should either be under your brake MC or side by side, it is easy to tell, your brake MC will have several lines coming from it where as your clutch cyl will only have 1 line, so look for thr one that has only 1 line, also another place to check for a leak is inside the car, follow the clutch pedal to where it connects to the pedal pushrod that comes through the firewall , there should be a rubber boot covering the pushrod , squeeze that rubbr boot if you get wet with brake fluid then it ( the clutch MC) is bad, also check on the trans for brake fliud leaks coming out of the clutch bell housing, n alot of todays cars the slave cyl is internal and operates the clutch release bearing as well instead of a pivot fork style... please rate theis help, thanks...
you may have pulled the lines from the slave cylinder a tiny bit and 1 may have cracked i'd check the lines to your slave cylinder first for leaks, 2 plastic lines going inside the transmission on the drivers side near the front of the trans..
