i cant understand that but got BAD idle.
there are different idle speeds, for hot ,warm and cold engine.
and the PCM (ECU) regulates idle with valve called ISC.
bad idle can be 1 of 2 things.
ISC sticking.
or engine runs so bad the ECU can NOT control idle.
clean the ISC, if not that
then its a big job, to find true cause. ASK !
one is finding air leaks.aka, vacuum leaks.
OK, so is it still setting the codes? Or has that gone away with the transmission harness repair? The idle is controlled by the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid. Ford has had a lot of trouble with these. However, the symptom is usually low idle speeds that cause the engine to stall. I think I would be looking for vacuum leaks. Ford 4.6L engines are notorious for the PCV hoses leaking at the elbow where it connects to the back of the throttle body.
Two things which can cause this issue. A faulty MAF (mass air flow) sensor or IACV (idle air control valve). If one of these sensor is faulty an erratic idle, too high or too low may occur. Have the engine scanned to know which of these sensor is faulty.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
ks.. it could be the AICV or the TPS (throttle position sensor).. DO you have any dash lights/service engine lights/ etc.. on??.. Stop by a O'Reilly, Autozone, Advance auto.. they should help you..
IT CAN BE MANY THINGS.HAVE IT HOOKED TO DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER CHECK FOR IDLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEMS AND EGR VALVE PROBLEMS.IF ALL IS GOOD.YOUR FUEL FILTER CLOGGED OR FUEL INJECTORS DIRTY OR FEW FAULTY.YOU COULD HAVE INTAKE VACUUM LEAK AND BAD GASOLINE WILL SHUT OFF CAR AT A STOP LIGHT.
most likely a sticking idle air control motor. It is the round log solenoid bolted on the side of the throttle body. Try tapping it with a hammer first to see if this un-sticks it. If so this is your problem and replace it.
