Question about Honda S2000

1 Answer

1985 honda shuttle

I am trying to remove the engine from a 1985 honda shuttle automatic. I have unbolted it from the mounts and seperated it from the gearbox. But it has only parted about 1/2 an inch and I cant remove it.

1. Do I need to remove the gearbox as well to get the engine out?
2. How is the drive from the engine connected to the drive in the gear box? 3. The drive from the engine has a round disc with about 8 threaded holes
in it so I presume this is bolted to the drive in the gearbox?
4. When reconnecting the replacement engine to the gear box do I need to dismantle the gearbox to reconnect the two?

I'm replacing the clutch. I have removed all the bolts and separated the the housing slightly but cannot totally separate the two. I'm thinking I may be missing a step.

in the same area of the bolt wholes there will be dowels sometimes the gearbox just needs to be pryed to seperate also make sure the driveshafts are completely removed from the gearbox shift cables and hydraulic line is removed mountings are removed completely out of the gearbox way.sometimes the loom or water hoses routed over the gearbox can restrict and its common for the cv joint flange on the gearbox differential to hook on the metal shim plate thats sandwiched between the engine and gearbox

How to change a automatic transmission?

Its a very big job, especially on a diamante. You need to disconnect any electrics to the transmission, remove the half shafts or universal joints, disconnect the shift linkage, remove the gearbox mount(s), the oil hoses. basically disconnect anything that is connected to the transmission. I believe however in a diamante you may be best removing the whole engine/transmission as a whole then seperate them outside the car.

HELP!!! Trying to Remove oil pan from 1985 Cheve

wow! that really sucks.... first if you drop the cross member you should be able to get at with ease other wise if you dont wanna screw with that unbolt the engine mounts and raise the front of the engine up BUT THIS TIME WATCH THE DISTRIBUTOR.... dont get near the fire wall... get me informed of other problems. and there aint no good way of taking the motor mounts out just take a wrench and put it on the bottom nut and take an impact wrench to the bolt

sounds like you've made the proper diagnosis. if you're intent on changing this, i suggest you get a Haynes guide to show how it should be done. you'll find them at the auto parts store.

Removing emgine to change clutch plate in 1985 honda civic 1300 lx

I assume you are talking about the clutch to the transmission. They make a tool that will support the engine and allow you to remove the gearbox on most cars without removing the engine. It is a tight fit but much less work.
