Question about 2000 Ford Focus
My car runs fine when cold, but after it gets hot, it looses power at high RPMs. I put a fuel pressure gage on and it looses pressure. I put in a used pump and still have the same exact problem. I have looked for a pressure regulator, but did not find what I know they look like. I found a unit on the fuel rail that has a vacuum line and some wires running to it, but the fuel runs straight through it. (not like a pressure regulator would look like). I have unplugged the wires and went for a test ride and it ran good. The fuel pressure does not vary like it normally would, but it also don't drop to 10 lbs.at 4000 RPMs.I am wondering if this unit measures pressure and cuts down the voltage to the pump? Any ideas?
Make sure fuel filters are fresh new and installed correctly this will give bad low preasure
the used pump i wouldnt even deal with i would go out and buy the oem part needed brand new it would be like putting used oil back in my truck for an oil change
what would be the point of oil change if your just going to use old oil
on the chassis there should be a fuel pump
in the gas tank there should be a fuel sending unit with filter on it
change the filter out in tank these get debry clogs from bad cheap gas
this you need to drop tank pull out sending unit with filter and replace most people dont realize this at all that the inside tank has to be serviced on a routine schedule every hundred thousand miles this will keep flow good
