Have you tried checking the connections on the battery and the starter? you might also try checking the ignition switch connections.
I am having a similar problem, with the help of a few tools, I removed the lower steering column cover to gain access to the ignition switch. I removed the protective cover from the ignition switch and played with the wiring circuits. I am still diagnosing, but have found by "hot wiring" some of the connection I can get the gages and idiot lights to come online. Once the idiot light fire up, the vehicle will start without issue.
However in the "hot wired" position, if I turn the key to the off position the engine doesn't stop running. And I can remove the key from the ignition switch in any position it is in.
I will try to update this when I have more information.
