Emergency brake light

My emergency brake light is stuck on. I assume that the brake is off because it drives just fine. What would cause this?

Dear Customer,

Check this,

1
derive your car on 5 to 10mph than take it into nutral gear,
than let the car slow down Slowly automaticaly WITHOUT using brakes not even any brakes, when its stops you have to judge that is your car stops with some jurk or some strokes.

IF NOT THAN YOUR your car have finetunniing of brakes & if have some jurk than you have to adjust your car brake system

2
than check your tail lights indicating your brakes & simultaneously works with emergency also,

3
dont worry its not a major problem cause its happens sometimes when your car had run a long time without any service,

so test all thsiat your garage or you can at branded service center having certified mechanics,

This light is an indicator that you have a problem with your braking system. It is not only an emergency brake indicator. The first thing that you should look into is whether you have a low level of brake fluid.

Be careful to not get ANY dirt into the reservoir if you open the lid. If you need to add fluid, please read your owners manual for the right type for your vehicle. Always use new, unopened fluid. Brake fluid absorbs water when exposed to the atmosphere.

Please be aware that a fluid loss could indicate a problem in your brake system, and you should try to determine what is causing the loss.

Why wam is my car starting sometimes and runs great .. but when i pull the emergency brake release it shuts off

I'm assuming there is a sensor attached to the emergency brake pedal. Try driving the car with those sensor wires shorted together.

Emergency break stuck- how to realease it?

The emergency brake does not affect the lighting or lights on your plates. This is an entirely different problem going on. On some vehicles, when you start them and put them in reverse the emergency brake pops out automatically. If this doesn't work, you will have to manually unlock the mechanism. As for the lights, the problem may be in your switch.

My brake light and battery light stays on when driving. Also emergency brake does not work.

OK, the brake light is caused most likely by the emergency brake cable being broken, and the pedal or brake lever is not in position.

Also, the brake light could be caused by low brake fluid level. Check that, too.

Battery light, is caused by the charging system not working, like a bad alternator or shorted out battery, or both.

I would have these issues repaired before driving any distance.

Emergency brake stuck, pedal release broken

What happens is the brake cables rust inside the cable sheath and then they won't slide easily. There's no good fix for this other than replacement. It's not easy to even find where they are stuck. It might be possible to find the end of the cables at the back wheels and pull the cables back---to release the tension

Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder?

Break light....

There's a switch on your emergency brake that the indicator (on your dashlight) operates from. Sometimes it slips in its bracket and gets out of adjustment causing your dash light to stay on. Its located on the upper part of your emergency brake pedal. Hope this works for you. Goodluck.

My car did the same thing, mine was the fuel sending unit in the tank. Replaced it and it's been fine since. Do you use the Emergency brake on a regular basis? If not it's probably just stuck and that is causing the light to stay on.
