Question about Hyundai Motor 1998 Sonata

1 Answer

Drivers door will not open

I locked my door with the remote button. When I returned and opened the car I noticed the drivers side button had not popped up all the way.... and I could not open the door. I put the key in the door and tried to open it manually but it still would not open.
I entered the car from the passengers side and tried to pull up the button by hand but it felt as if something was pulling back down. The door handle felt pretty much the same just that there was no engagement of the actual mechanism.
I have tried disconnecting the battery but nothing gave.
I would like to take off the inside panel to see if I can manipulate the mechanism somehow.
My question is can the inside door panel be removed with the door closed? Or must the door be opened to undo the panel.
Or do you know anyway in which i can attempt to solve this problem.
Thanks. Joe

My 2003 Volkswagen Golf has problem with the innder door latch. Its with the driver side door. I am able to open the door from outside but the inner latch is not working as if it is not connected to the internal mechanism. I have to pull the windows down than open the door from outside handle as the internal latch is free.

Any Clue? I just have a word with Volkswagen authorized dealer and they said the inner latch unit need to be replaced and the cost is $255 + Tax ...eeeeee ...hhhhh too expensive.

Any ideas on this? Can't it be fixed by myself?
