The difference - huge. Carrol Shelby designed the power plant for the AC cobra, and the 69 AC cobra had the 426 emblem on the side, but the motor was actually a 429. Only year this was produced. To this day it is one of the fastest cars ever produced for commercial sale. The AC cobra was capable of going from dead stop Zero to 100 mph back dead stop zero in just over 11 seconds, and the story goes Mr. Shelby would tape a $100 bill to the visor on the passanger side, and tell the passanger if they could grab it as he went through the gears it was theirs - no one was able to boast this claim. The ford shelby fastback is a mustang that Carrol Shelby and Ford collaborated over. Shelby's 426 was put in the Ford Cobra, but the heavier, less aerodynamic Mustang had nothing on the AC cobra. The AC got it's body style from the old Austin Healy (I think - having a brain moment). Fundamentally, the AC cobra's are the american muscle car collecters holy grail. Everyone want's one, but no one can afford one - for an original 64 or 65 AC Cobra you can expect to pay $250,000. For the 69 with the 429 up the price to $500,000. There are a million kit car cobra's out there, and the owners act like they have something special - all they have is an over rated VW with a Cobra body kit. And boy do they get mad when you point out the imperfections!

Pretty close donny12.
Carol shelby took a british car the AC Ace and redesignd it to install a 260 v-8 then went to a 289 and then a 427(ford never made a 426 mopar did) and a aluminum body that weighed around 2000lbs.

oh here i found something you may like/need to read

copied and pasted:The AC Cobra was a financial failure, which led Carroll Shelby to discontinue importing cars from England in 1967. AC Cars kept producing the coil springs AC Roadster with narrow fenders, a small block Ford 289 and called the car the AC 289, it was built and sold in Europe until 1969

Why is vehicle leaking when the AC is on?

What is it leaking? If it is water it is most likely just frost caused by condensation due to the temperature difference between the AC and the outside air.

I need to know what I need to do to bypass the ac on a serpentine belt on a 1998 Ford Expedition. Is it a different belt that the regular one, or a different way to place it?

Well I will start by saying it can't be done.
Now, there might be a way if you can find a pickup truck without ac.
Standard pickup trucks with the 4.6 and 5.4 engines do come without ac in rare cases, especially ones sold in northern states. And the routing is the same for either truck engine without ac. But the belts are different between the pickup trucks and your Expedition. I don't know what difference is other than the Expedition belt is slightly shorter than the pickup truck belts with ac.
You may be able to run a shorter belt over the pulley above the crank and then over the pulley above the compressor, but I would expect to find bolts and brackets in the way.
And there is no way to know what the length would be without trying to measure the distance going that route, since engines without ac are routed differently. Some of the idler pulleys are in different places on the engines without ac.
And since all Expeditions come with ac, there is no belt listed without ac to get the length.

Anyone have the repair manual download

I can tell you to do three things. Try a Web search using variations of the Manual you want, contact a Mustang Owners Blog, or go to Helm Publishing for a reprint. Helm is located in a Detroit suburb.

Press the AC button , light comes on

Coolant has nothing to do with the A/C system. you need to get the freon level checked. You may have an electrical issue if the freon is full.

Temperature Control not working on 1999 Ford Explorer

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.
