If there is no reduction of the coolant in the radiator then the overflow of the coolant when hot was the reason for the leak.
However if there is reduction of the coolant then you must fill the coolant and start the car to idle. Now look out for leak or overflow.
Sometimes the leak will not be seen as the radiator might steam off through a small pore. You must check the tightness of the radiator to confirm.

My 1998 Isuzu ran hot. Replaced water pump and timing belt. Car still runs hot. There is no white smoke coming out tail pipe. What else could be my problem

you could have a slow coolant leak. the coolant fan may not be functioning. Does it run hot if you are driving or when you come to a stop like at a red light? AutoZone, has a loaner tool program they have a pressure tester. its like a bike air pump. you pump up and it has a guage and it builds air pressure in coolant system...if there is a leak the guage will drop down, and the pressure will temporarily cause a slow leak to leak fairly heavy and makes it easy to locate. if you don't have a leak.. I would like to help you solve the problem but need the info I asked about earlier.

What's the prob with my Vw Gti vr6, when I used

most coolant stop leaks will not work with anti-freeze at all, only clear water only. please read the label on the product and follow it to the letter.most stop leaks will not work under extreme conditions, such as a bad water pump or missing water pump belt,or bad thermostat. with common leaks along the radiator SEAMS they may help some. please seek a mechanic soon, you can damage your engine without proper coolant in it. which can lead to an engine replacement. where the steam is coming from is where your coolant leak is. it may only be a bad or faulty hose. a simple pressure tester rented from auto-zone or avanced automotive will reveal your leak.please follow the instructions with the rental equipment, and you will find the leak in the coolant system quickly. thank you for choosing

Change fan belt (I know sounds stupid) but if it's slipping from being loose or glazed it won't spin waterpump fast enough to circulate coolant. Sometimes the obvious is easily overlooked.

Coolant leaking out of heater core drain tube

The core is bad. You're lucky you have a catchpan and drain in your car... most people end up with coolant all over their feet when this happens! You have a few options. 1. You can pick up a bottle of cooling system leak stopper (available at Wal Mart and auto parts stores), follow the directions and see if that stops the leaking. 2. You can cut the heater lines and bypass the core entirely (obviously this is only a good idea if you live in Arizona or some other warm place). 3. Replace the core.

1997 Toyota Avalon over-heating problem due to low coolant level

Could be buring coolant from headgasket leak. thats the only other way coolant can leave your engine besides a leak.

Side note:
I strongly reccomend in the future not to use ne kind of coolant stop-leak stuff. you have small passages coolant needs to go through and that stuff also cloggs up those areas. alot of people dont think that far ahead. so alittle info for the future for you. it also cloggs up your heatercore and radiator. and will cause faster corrosion in those areas.

Water leaking

If the leak is in the rear of the engine, there are several things that can cause the leak. Intake manifold gasket, heater hoses, heater core.........
If this is a small leak, you might try a can of Bars Leak. It should stop any component coolant leak, however, it will not cure a heater hose coolant leak.
If you try the bars leak, give it 50 to 100 miles to stop the leak.
If it is a large coolant leak, it is best to have the leak identified and repaired, much cheaper in the long run if you are planning on keeping the car.
Let me know.

Coolant leaking, temperature too hot when stopped

sounds like your being ripped off if mechanic cant isolate and repair what is a simple problem. You will need to find a mechanic who has a pressure tester to isolate the leak and confirm that its leaking from that specific point not guess and replace at your expense every part of the water system.
