You must replace the sending unit in the gas tank to correct this problem, or do you already know this?
SOURCE: where is the oil sending unit located on a Chevy S10 Pickup.
I would not dismiss the possibility of the oil pressure switch being in the pump circuit...gm has used these on and off since the chevy vega. (remember them?)
SOURCE: 1998 chevy pickup won't start. Replaced fuel pump
How many miles are on the engine? Has the timing chain ever been replaced, if it hasn't there is a possibility that the timing chain has jumped a tooth on the cam gear which throws off the ignition timing and will keep it from starting but you will still have spark and fuel.

could be the lines stopped up. happends alot due to old gas tanks will have trash in the bottom of them an you let them run low to almost empty it sucks up all that trash. it will clog lines and also clog the fuel filter and or make your pump go bad. check it out.
