Could be a bad battery, or your alternator is ging out.check the voltage on battery after you charge it if it is low check your alternater and see what voltage your have there also.

Your problem with your gauge going down lower then it used to be sounds like the alternator brushes are getting worn i would 1.try a voltage meter see if you are getting at least 13.8 or higher if not sounds like time to change altenator or change the voltage regular and brushes with new if your not handy with a wrench then just get a remanufactured altenator good luck!

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 and it died driving down the road, it will start up again run a few seconds and die. Have checked fuel pressure and it is good. Any ideas? Thank you!

What is the fuel pressure reading? Have you installed a gauge to actually read it. There may be fuel volume but low pressure causing this issue.

Why is my gas guage is going up and down in my 1999 caravan?

Could be power fluctuations to the fuel gauge sending unit, a bad sending unit or a bad gauge. The sending unit would be the most likely cause.

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer. On the way home from work, the oil gauge suddenly started bouncing all over the place. What could be causing this?

definitely change it as soon as possible. maintaining your vehicle is important. the engine wears down faster without proper oil. Also just because it has oil doesn't mean its ok. old oil carries metal shaving from your engine. that's why you need to change it regularly.

I have a 1999 ford taurus that has coolant coming out of the surge tank, even though the dash temp gauge is a little under the halfway mark. i have replaced the water pump, thermostat, and surge tank fill...

try bleeding the air out of the pipes....the topmost hot water hose is the best one, just undo the clip when hot to expell any air.(wear rubber glves cos its really hot..)

What is the correct idle in a ford explorer 1999 v6 4.0 L when is hot?Thank you.

This is controlled by the ECM (Engine control module)I usually keeps it between 650-750 RPM's and will sometimes fluctuate when a load is turned on, but not a lot. Sometimes the tachometer in the dash reads wrong, so it maybe right at the tach is wrong. WHY DID YOU ASK THIS QUESTION, IS THERE ANOTHER CONCERN??

Temperature gauge is fluctuating while driving.

I'm thinking the coolnat level is low, and this might be caused by a bad head gasket - At least $800 to fix - sorry.

Fuel gauge is almost working backwards

The mechanic should adjust the the leveling of the fuel gauge .it will not go on the towards the empty mark unless it is adjusted to the right mark. To see if the engine is full or not .than you sir .

Lights Dim, Radio shuts off, battery gauge dropps

I would check the ignition switch, they are know for separating and causing issue's like this one, Ford recalled many of them, but the Explorer was not on the list, though it uses the same switch as the recalled cars..
