ON THE REAR TOP PART OF THE MOTOR YOU HAVE TO CRAWL ON TOP OF THE ENGINE, HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. THE ARROW POINTS TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE SO CAN HAVE AN IDEA OF THE LOCATION=.........I UPLOADED THIS PICTURE TO HELP YOU OUT.... 591e1c8.gif

It s atthe rear of the engine near the fire wall on the left side at about 10 o clock. You will need a spacial deep scoket to remove and install it is pipe thread and threads in to the block put some teflon tape on it the socket is 1 1/16 inch but vary deep and costs about 20 to 25 dollars at and parts store

the oil sending unit is located at the back of the motor right below the rotor cap it is about 3 inches long and has a 3 wire plug hooked t it

Put a gage in the sending unit hole and see if the oil pump is weak, that is the best way to tell if the engine pump is ok.

Just started up my 2003 chevy and my oil gauge went to 80

Check the wire behind the guage.If not tight it will make the hand bounce.

My 2005 Chevy 1500HD when cold there is no oil pressure accoring to the gauge. But after a few minutes of running and then a restart of the engine the oil pressure is bake to normal.


most likely the problem is the oil pressure sending unit or the oil passage to the sending unit is partially plugged, that is unlikely, I would replace the sending unit 1st.
