If there are no other symptoms like valve lifter clatter or noise.. then is possible that the oil pressure is ok but that the oil pressure sending unit is bad .. you can have an oil pressure test done to make sure thats ok .. .. the sending unit jus screws in and isnt expensive .. another possibility is that sledge has formed and clogged the intake screen for the oil pump .. that can sometimes be cleaned out without removing the pan ... if the oil pressure is really low then its not a good idea to run the engine very much and especially not fast .. you can have a bad sending unit that operates only at very high pressures such as high speed .. so i wouldn't count that out yet ... if the engine has a history of not having timely oil changes or its been using low quality oil, i would suspect the sledge buildup ... if it has lots of miles then suspect a warn out or clogged oil pump .. an oil pump pressure test will tell you a lot and can be done topside .. ...

Hi yes your are correct in that it is either, oil pump, oil sender sensor, low oil level and to be honest the worst senario it could be is big end bearings, these are normally the things that shoiw low oil pressure , i doubt it will be the big ends, as if it was you would get a low pitch rattle when starting up, and at high revvs it would be quite loud, so i would check the oil sender sensor first if it is not low oil, which i gather you have allready checked, you can check to see if it is the pump, just start car up and remove the oil filler cap and see if it starts spitting oil out of it, and you can check to see if the top has oil in it...hope this helps good luck

I recently done engine completely on my Toyota conquest 2e engine, but the oil pump isn't pumping the oil up.I've bought the new oil pump still no oil coming up.What must I do please help?

Did you prime the pump before installation? New pumps should be filled with some fluid before you install them, such as engine breakin lube.

How to fix.my throtleboard

It seems you haven't been taking enough care on your car up to the point the whole cylinder head is worn out leaking oil from the inlet means both the valve stamp seals, valveguides ,oil scrapper rings valves and timing belt worn out. The timing jumped making the piston hit the valves damaging the guides and seals, oil started to come into cylinder and during comp%ssion it is pushed through the valves to the inlet until it damanges the throttle body.the D4 pump is also faulty, low pressure if the car can't rev. Better do cylinder head service and buy another D4 pump before condemning the throttlebody

1988 toyota 4x4 pickup check oil light is staying on. checked oil level and was full.why does the light stay on

It means your oil pressure is too low to safely run engine. Causes might be a worn oil pump, a failed oil pump gasket, clogged oil passages from sludge, or badly worn crankshaft bearings.
If your toyota is not burning oil, or very little, I would take a look at the oil pump on your engine. After removal, they can be checked (and repaired) with a feeler gauge for proper working condition, but most people just replace with new.
If you want to be certain about the pressure reading, you can check pressure with a mechanic's oil pressure gauge. You have to run the engine just long enough to get a good reading on the pressure gauge, a moment or two.

Hi, i have a 1988 toyota conquest. the oil light continously stays on. But when i rerve it up the light goes on. Oil is full. Im thinking its the oil pump? i dont think its the oil light sensor but im not...

If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of cracked insulation or it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.

Where is the fuel pump located on 1988 Chrysler Conquest?

Some early models and all turbocharged or fuel injected cars are equipped with an electric fuel pump. On the early models the fuel pump is mounted in the trunk on sedans and hardtops and in the left rear wheel housing on station wagons. On the turbocharged Colt and fuel injected Vista, the fuel pump is in the gas tank. On the Conquest, it is on the frame rail, behind the left rear wheel, and on later models is located on the fuel tank.

On late Conquest models, the fuel pump is tank mounted. It is necessary to remove the fuel tank for fuel pump service. Refer to the Colt/Vista procedure.

Hope helped.
