SOURCE: why do my anti lock breaks engage on my 1998 tahoe everytime?

either your antilock brake sensor is not working properly or your switch behind your foot brake is not working properly.

Have the sensor checked first. If that's not the case, the system may be defective. Only be having it checked by a trusted mechanic will give you peace of mind. Get an estimate first! Good Luck

the abs module could have dirt in the connection its a common problem or the other side could be corroded or also the speed sensor in the transmission could be faulty

Anti-lock function on brakes is triggered by applying brakes while steering wheel is turned hard over

Sounds like you are losing wheel speed signal when under hard turns. This is commonly caused by the harness at or near the wheel speed sensor has a bad connection of there may be a break in the wiring that intermittently loses signal to the ABS module and causes the anti-lock function to happen, (loss of wheel speed is like wheel skid as far as the ABS module is concerned) It is usually necessary to have a scan tool to monitor the data and read codes on the ABS system. You may have to take vehicle to shop that is capable of diagnosing the problem.

When applying brake last bit before stopping judders like anti lock stuck

front wheel bearings going bad. this is common. the speed sensor is part of assembly. it will get real bad and you will have no brakes at low speeds, turning is worse. replace both front hubs. not cheap but will save headaches

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN THE DASH LIGH TURNS ON AND IT SAYS "ANTI-LOCK"?

It means that your anti lock breaks. The computer may have detected a problem with them, such as they need changed or low on break fluid. Sometimes it means their locked up.

One of the wheel speed sensors are bad. It is hard to tell which one it is without a scan tool. You might be money ahead to have a shop with a scanner tell you which sensor is bad if you don't own a scanner. It needs to be driving with a scan tool on it while watching the speeds of the wheels. The one that is bad will read different than the rest at slow speeds.

Put the fuse back in and take it for a drive in a secluded area. When the anti lock kicks in at low speed let go of the steering wheel and see which way it turns the wheel.. ie: if the steering whell goes left it is the right sensor. you can remove the sensor and file down the rust at it's mounting point to put the sensor back to it's proper gap to the reluctor wheel in the bearing and it may cure it but for the price of a bearing you may be better of to replace it.
Hope this helps , if you need anymore info on how to do it just ask.
