Question about 2006 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

My wrench light is on after Ford flashed my computer (to help with the mileage) and messed up the tune for my CAI. I reloaded the tune to get rid of the engine light because the computer was throwing P001, P002 (Engine too lean). Engine light went off but now the wrench light is stuck on even though the car puts out more hp than rated. Has dual exhaust and CAI, no other engine mods. I have been told I may need a new computer. It just seems like this shouldn't be this way since I've had the CAI on since March of 2008 with no issues until Ford flashed it. They've tried reflashing with no luck. Had to run the CAI tune in order to keep it from being too lean. Per the dyno, everything is running optimally. Pulls 260hp. Any ideas?

Problem is ford can't back flash the computer as the car is new enough that your security system doesn't let you use a old computer from another cr and they have to flash the new one to make it work at all and only the updated flash is out now you may be backed into a corner. Run this story past your CAl tune spplier and they may be able to help ou they should have a tech lune or a founrm online and your not the only onedoing this so somebody knows what to do.

01 escape, v6 4wd, low rouph idle, difficult to start, wether cold or at operating temp. check engine light not indicating problem and is operating properly.

I would check to see if your ford has a fuel filter on it,if so and it is at the mileage to replace it go ahead and do so.Also I would check to see if it was time for a tune up.The fuel filter is pretty cheap and if you can turn a wrench you could do this job at home and save yourself some cash.Remember that after the filter is replaced cut the switch on 3 or 4 times without starting the engine to prime the filter.Hope this will help you out.

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer that just hit 190,000 miles yesterday and runs fantastic. Earlier this week, I had a tune up done. Today the check engine light began flashing, stays solid for a while, goes...

any time the check engine light is flashing it is the on-board computer telling you that the engine is misfiring, i think i would take it back to whom done the tune-up sounds like they may have cracked a spark plug or damaged a plug wire when they tuned it up.

I am doing a tune-up on my 2000 ford windstar 3.8v6 are bosch plugs good to use in this van or what is a good plug to maximize gas mileage

Bosch are okey, just use the OEM configuration, not these 4 prong silly things, you see in ads.

Check out NGK-they come with motorcraft and ngk logos, from factory. Now you know who makes Ford Plugs

Two things---
1--you won't improve mileage on a 10 year old vehicle,or a new one,doing anything
2--There have not been Tune-Ups in 25 years,all vehicles are computer controlled,no tuning,no adjusting

You are performing a Preventative Maintainance Service--been that for over 30 years.
Remember OBD1 1980 thru 1995
OBD2 1996 thru 2011

I installed brake pads that didnt have a sensor and my passat has the sensor hook up that i did not use...the problem is the brake light stays on and it flashes to check the pads. how do i get rid of that...

The light should have gone off when the computer reset itself after you've drove a certain amount of mileage. You will have to go to your local garage and have the light reset.

Exhaust sputters engine light flashes car shakes

which engine light? The Check engine light (yellow) or the Red engine light?

Flashing yellow means you are dumping raw fuel into your catalytic converter and will ruin the $800 cat very quick. It means you have cylinders not firing. Go to Autozone and get the fault codes to see what the cause is.

2004 Dodge Intrepid Check Engine Light & Bad Fuel Mileage

If it has never had plugs changed, i would suggest it. It can make a big difference.

Labor time is .8 hrs + 6 plugs = $80 - $150.

Take your car to a parts place and they will usually check and clear your light for free.

Firestone likes to up-sell everything, $650 is way too much for a basic tune up.
