Question about 2002 Dodge Dakota Club Cab

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Club Cab 3.9 4WD. The problem I'm having is that there has developed free play / slack at the start of each changing of direction. The problem reminds me of the old steer box and you always had to bounce back and forth to stay straight,

Yeah, I hate that, like having a u shaped chamber filled with jello as your connection to the steering. Even it breeds anticipatory steering, all equates to added stress to operation of vehicle.

Inspect every steering component and repair as necessary. Then get an alignment.

Be sure to inspect the steering box mounts on the frame, that area flexes and eventuyally cracks.....

Then look at steering box adjustment.

I have wanted to install rack and pinion systems on some vehicles I ahave owned. Keep after it.

Can you change fuel filter on a 4.7 v8 quad cab dakota

Yes, it should be located above the fuel tank. You have to partially lower the tank to gain access.

sounds like you have failed rod or crank bearing, this is causing the loss of oil pressure.

Why would a 2002 dodge dakota crank over but not start?

If it fires on starting fluid you have a fuel problem. If it doesn't you have an electrical problem. This would just be the first step- only 10 things or so in each direction.
