A 205 will probably have the same circumference as the 195, if fitted on 16 in rims. If going to a lower profile tire on the same wheels, speedometer readings will be wrong, and visually, the tires will not fill the wheel well properly.

My tire size is 185/65 R 14. can I changed or put tire 195/60 R 15?

No ---not unless you put a 15" rims on the car. The tyre sizing reads like this
185 is the width of the rim from bead to bead in millimetres
the 65 is the profile height --- distance of the rim from the road surface
r is for radial
14 is the rim diameter in inches
now you can understand why a 15"tyre will not fit a14" rim

Tire size

Yes as long as u change the rims also not just the tires these numbers 195/60/15 195 is tire width 60 is tire height and 15 is rim size, most all Hondas will fit up to 215/35/18 with no rubbing issues on factory suspension ..... Every time the rim size changes u have change the height of the tire so it will fit some go as far as " stretching " the tire to allow larger rims or extreme offsets

Just bought a 97 Cavalier...didn't notice till later that it has 3 tires that are P215 60R16 and 1 tire is P195 65R15...is this going to hurt anything...and what is the normal size tire and rims for this...

It should not do any damage to the vehicle, but for safety's sake I would be swapping the odd one to the same size as the others. The last thing you want is instability when having to stop in an emergency. The correct tyre size should be on the tyre placard, a sticker usually found on the drivers door jam somewhere.

I have a 2005 nissan sentra. Tire size is 195/60 R15. I have the chance to get 2 195/65 R15 tires at a good price, and want to put them on the back, keeping the 195/60's on the front. Will this be OK? Some...

Hi!

195(width in mm)/60(sidewall height in % of width) R15(rim diameter)

This means, a 195/60 R15 rides lower than a 195/65 R15 tire. Imagine how it would look like when you put these different tire sizes on one car. It can be done but the car will be unbalanced both mechanically and aesthetically. Remember, your car was not designed for different front and rear tire sizes unlike some sports cars.

A 2005 model will most like come standard with ABS as with most cars produced year 2001 onwards.
Just buy 1 tire size for your car. If you wish to change to another tire size, change all the tires.

Good luck!

I am trying to find what tires will fit on my Chevrolet Cavalier, 1996, Coupe Base. My Girlfriend's dad is going to put new tires on her car, and her tires are in better shape in mine, and was trying to...

The difference between 205-60-15 and 205-70-15 tires is that the sidewall is a little thicker on the 205-70-15's, in which makes what msapp12 said accurate. For your car you can fit 195-65-15, 205-60-15, and 215-60-15 tires. Stock tire size for that car is 195-65-15, but the only difference between the three of the sizes I mentioned is the width of the tire. Something to check after getting new tires is your alignment. Make sure that it is straight, as well as make sure that none of your wheels are bent when you have the new tires installed. If either of those are present, it will cause bad uneven wear on your tires causing you to buy new tires more frequently. Plus as a routine maintenance, have your tires rotated and rebalanced every 4,000 to 6,000 miles that way they wear evenly. If you are fortunate to have a Discount Tire, or America's Tire located near you, I would highly recommend paying them a visit and explaining to them your problem, and they will be able to assist you. Tires matter on same size rim?

both tires will fit on the 15 inch rim
But be advised make sure you have same size tires on the drive wheels being as your car is front wheel drive u want both the front tires to be the same size
if this is not done u will burn up your transmission
if you have to put a odd ball tire on put it on the rear

exact opposite is true for rear wheel drive car on a rear wheel drive car u want both rear tires to be the same size

Is it safe to use a tire size other than the 'stock' 195/55/r15 on a 2003 Mazda Protege DX-Sedan? If so, what are acceptable options other than this size?

Yes , tire sizes can be changed without any problem , as long as you don't go too different. Here is how a tire is measured........
195 is the width of the tire 19.5 centimeters , 55 is a measurement of the amount of rubber outside the metal rim , in your case it is 55% of the width ( 195 ) the r15 is the rim size 15 inch.
You could go to a slightly wider tire with a lower profile , like a 205/50/15 or a slightly narower tire with more profile like a 185/60/15.
The important thing is to try to stay close to the same overall hight . if your old tires are 25" in diameter , try to stay close to that , or you will throw your speedometer out of true.

Pontiac grand am rims work for Chevy Cavalier?

going from a 205 to a 195 is going to be a narrower tire. I am doing this now on my truck. I am going from a 305 to a 275. going from a 70 to a 65 is going to be slightly shorter of a tire. the opening will still be 15 inches. hope this helps.

Tire size

From a legal stanpoint? Do you have inspections that require stock equipment? Might want to be careful there.--other than that from a mechanical standpoint the outside diameter of the tire needs to be real close and honestly it sure sounds like youd be there. Maybe about ten milimeters off in total--but that would represent about 3 mile per hour difference in speedometer reading. not bad. Hope I helped. Thanks
