55-62 PSI, check fuel filter. This is just a little low.

I doubt the fuel pressure would cause this. Fuel pump replacement is expensive. Is the engine light on? Maybe we can find another cause.

Got a 99 chevy silverado 4.8 litre.codes are lean bank 1 and 2 put fuel pressure guage on and reading 20 ilbs pressure jumps to 41 ilbs . then drops back to 20 ilbs could it be the fuel pump?

My info says fuel pressure 55--62 psi. Yes, probably the fuel pump. Usually low pressure is a problem on the supply side. You can be thorough, check proper voltage and ground at fuel pump connector. Check inline fuel filter. I've checked inline fuel filters before where the fluid that ran out looked like dirty water. Don't take connections loose from inline fuel filter unless your sure, no pressure on the system.
You could block the return line, where applicable, momentarily, to see if pressure will go high. If not, it should be the pump.

2002 chevy silverado got spark and fuel through filter and can put fuel in the throtle body it will start for a sec but wont start on its own

Sound like you have low fuel pressure. You will need a fuel pressure gauge to accurately measure fuel pressure. You should have 48 to 64 psi.

454 mechanical fuel pump , wont stay running

Not enough fuel pressure if this truck is fuel injected. In 1999 chevy fuel systems need at least 52 psi to open the popet valve inside the injector to allow fuel thru.Fuel pressure specs are 60-66 psi with on and engine off.

When i first start the truck after it has been sitting for awhile, i step on the gas and it feels and feels like the truck is gonna stall

The first thing to do is check the fuel pressure it should be between 60-66 psi with the key on and engine off. This fuel system has to have at least 52 psi to open the popet valve inside the fuel injector. After you check the fuel pressure start the engine with the pressure gauge still connected push the throttle sharply and look at the gauge,if the pressure drops instead of increasing then replace the fuel pump and filter. Also if fuel pressure is on the boarder line off 52 psi then need to replace the fuel pump and filter.

1998 2500 chevy wont start unless i pour fuel in throtle body when engine is cold

Check your fuel pump pressure, it is probably down in the 50 lb range and it requires a bit above that to start. Once it starts it will run on that pressure. This is a chronic problem with these, my 1998 2500 was a GMC but it's the same vehicle. I put 385,000 miles on it with no engine or transmission trouble but I was on fuel pump number six when I sold it.

To clarify my problem.... My 99 Chevy Silverado ran out of gas one day. As you know when this happens it sometimes toast the fuel pump... So i did have to replace the feul pump. It was a junkyard fuel pump...

It sounds like the fuel pressure check valve on the fuel pump has gone bad and your losing fuel pressure when engine is turned off. Try priming the fuel pressure twice, that's when you turn the ignition keys to the run position with out starting the engine for 10 seconds and then turning the key's to the off position and on again for 5 seconds. After the second prim the engine should start, to check this you can lone out a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. You should have 62 to 65 PSI during prim and once the engine is running, it should drop by 5 psi. As for your the accuracy on reading the right amount of fuel in your gas tank, the sensor is apart of the fuel pump sending unit and the float may have gotten bent and nothing you can do to fix it unless you take the fuel pump out again and replace the sending unit. Good luck and keep me posted.

Just replaced the fuel pump in my 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 4 wheel drive. It now starts, but won't stay running when idling. Any ideas?

also u may want to check the regualtor take to a mechanic and have him put i pressure guage and to make sure pump is pumping right amouth of psi. you could have broke some of the plastic on pump when putting in. If good psi then maybe relay or regulator under intake.
