2006 ford escape car starter not starting car blinks 12 times

Bummer deal! Don't know what the blinks mean. But do know starters. They need to be good and have a 5 to 10 year lifetime. A bad started growls sickly with little spin power - showing such means its bad. It needs a good at least 3/4 battery full of voltage to spin the motor. An 06 might have the original battery, now at the end of its lifetime - so that could be your trouble. Try a jump start to see if your car starts. If it starts, the battery is someway at fault. A good battery with dirty connections can cause your problem. They need cleaned by complete removal and wire brushed cleaned. Always take off negative post first and connect it last to avoid harm to the alternator - which also much be working to keep the battery full of voltage. Try those checks. Most part stores can check out all the above items and tell the condition of each related item to start your car as good fair or bad. Hopes this helps. My lexus sucksa aot of current and won't start. What can I do?

so you mean it won`t crank over or it will crank over but not start up.if it won`t crank over and it sounds like the battery is going deaf while trying to start it then it could be the starter motor as long as the battery is in good condition, and no just because the lights and radio work does not mean the battery is any good.it takes little voltage to operate these.

My car turns over but does not fire up.even with a good battery

just because the battery is good doesn't mean that a car will start. you could have a spark problem, fuel problem, air, sensor ..... i mean it really could be any number of things, unless you can be more specific you should probably get it checked by a certified tech.

How do you know if is the starter or the batery is the problem

If it will start with a boost, have your battery load tested when fully charged, that will be a good indication.

Receiving Code P1684 99 Dodge Intrepid 2.7

If I remember correctly that code means you have disconnected the battery in the last 50 starts so if the battery has been disconnected it will throw that code for a while and then clear its self

Good luck

I would like to know what happens when you try starting the car and it makes a clicking sound and doesnt start?

That usually means your starter soleniod and/or starter is no good and needs to be replaced - also check your battery terminals to ensure they are tight and clean

My car when the sun hit, dont start

Do you mean you have trouble starting it when it is hot outside? If so get the battery checked first, heat and cold stress the battery.

If you mean you lose power as you drive when its hot out, that is a whole other problem.
Good Luck
