Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

My daughter drives a 2001 focus with motor vibration. I just picked it up from the ford dealership where they replaced a motor mount. The problem was not solved and said mabe they could replace more mounts to solve problem but were not sure. Is it something else?

Describe the vibration better. Is it a manual or automatic. It is when starting off, or at higher speed. Does it happen when slowing down or turns. Normally you can tell when motor mounts are bad because of the deteriorated rubber bulging out, oil soaked, cracked or ripped, etc. Or pry on the engine with a long 2x4.

If a plug, wire, or injector was bad, then the engine would run rough, but that would include when the vehicle was not even moving. And if it vibrates when not even moving, it could not possibly be a motor mount. So since the dealer replaced a motor mount, I assume it only vibrates under load. In which case it could not then be a plug, wire, or injector.

So again, it would help if you could describe the vibration better? When does it do it? What does it sound like?

I have an 01 focus and it has a terrible vibration and a few guys told me it prob is the top mount on the passengers side... Has anyonr heard of this prob?

I have 6 ford focus's and I have changed 3 motor mounts so far, 2, 2005's I bought directly from ford fixed the vibrations....it was like a new car. The other one a 2003 model I bought from Autozone, it still vibrates allthough it is 98% better. I will always buy the motor mounts directly from Ford.

Try TousleyFordparts.com they have great prices on geniune ford parts....you can call them

2001 Focus Vibrates Inexplicably!

Vibrations while driving are usually caused by missing/broken motor mounts, wheel bearings, unbalanced tires, or worn/bent 1/2 axles.
Improper tires (or winter tires) may also contribute.
Get a second opinion!
There are too many things on a 2001 that could be wrong.
