Question about 1986 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

1 Answer

I need help on how to take off the Exhaust pipe on my 86 S10 Blazer 2.8L 4WD... I'm trying to replace my rod bearings but i need to take off the oil pan.. which i tried to take off the starter, the cross member and bell housing.. but the exhaust pipe is in the way to remove anything. I know where the bolts are but it its held in place by springs as well.. i sprayed WD-40 constantly and it wont budge either way I turn it. Is there a certain way I have to do it? Is there a trick to it? I couldn't find anything about it

Exhaust almost always gets so rusty that heat is required.
I doubt you can get it hot enough without oxi-acetyline.
If you try brute force, the bolts might just snap.

Yes, with enough heat it will come off. But you have to heat it in the right place. The bolts thread into the manifold I believe, so you need to heat the part where the bolt threads in.
If that is a nut instead of the cast manifold, it is much easier. In fact, then you could just split the nut with a chisel. Heating the bolt itself will not help, and will only serve to make it more likely to snap. Getting it alternately hot and then chilled with WD40 helps. The expansion and contraction washes the rust out.

Where are all three o2 censors in a 1999 s10 blazer. 4 door V6 engine and 4x4

The upstream O2 sensors will be before the catalytic converter just down from where the exhaust pipe(s) attache to the exhaust manifold. The downstream O2 will be right after the catalytic converter. Once you crawl under the vehicle they will be pretty obvious where they are in the exhaust pipe.

Engine not failed oil pressure good engine ticking think it is rod bearings how do you replace on 1997 chev Blazer

hold up rod bearings were did you get that?lets take it from the top.camshaft lobs move lifters on rotation, which lifters move push rods, push rods push valves up and down, which other side of valves push up and down valve stems, which open and close exhaust and intake stems.ok now were clear on that to see your push rods.take off your valve covers on side with tick.1.check for valve loosness.need a feeler gauge for this and specs for you truck to do this.because ticking is mostly associated with valve loosness or to tight.2.if rod is bad loosin valves but not off and inspect the rods for bends.on a flat surface.replace if bend.also make sure they to go back in same place.and repeat step 1.finally noise continues need to take in and checked possible internal damage.

Where is the oil filter located on '86 S10 blazer 2.8L?

Located on the drivers side, if you have a 4wd. You can access it through the wheel well but flipping up the splash guard up out of the way to reach in with your arm to remove it.
On the 2wd you can reach it by raising the front end up and crawling under the drivers side and you'll see the oil filter where the transmission and engine mates.
Thank you for suing fixya and good luck

my 86 blazer did the same thing , check the vacuum lines on top of transfer case look for one that is chaffed or cracked. Another is the shifter linkage adjust, you will need a manual as it is set with a specific drill bit size to put in for alignment. it is easier than it sounds. hope this helps you

Hello tapout383: My name is Roger and I will answer for you. There is no way to remove the flywheel cover with out dropping the exhaust. I have tried every way you could imagine. You will also need to replace the donut gaskets when you put it back together.Be careful not to break the exhaust studs when you loosen them. Good luck on your repair.
