Well the problem is most likely the track came outta place or the glass came of the track.. the hopefully not problems are a broken regulator (thing that lifts the glass up and down) or a broken switch (thing u press to make glass go up and down).'

now i will try my best to to explain how to diagnose and fix it,, seeing as I'm from the caribbean parts here sometimes carry (local names) not the names your used to so bear with me..

  • open door ( i know it was obvious sorry!!)
  • remove door upholstery (some screws are hidden in the handle, door lever, and behind plugs look for it)
  • pry the upholstery loose from the clips to get it off
  • now look at the glass ,, you will notice 2 railings on eighter ends ,, is the glass in the middle or in the tracks of the railings ?? if not then fit it in place and your set, you can adjust it by loosening the 3 bolts on the middle of the glass)
  • there is an arm there,, a motor with a cable running through and up some metal pieces,, is the cable broken ? if so replace the entire regulator unit, remove it by loosening the bolts holding it in place , then the 3 bolts holding the glass to it,, lift the glass out the door then pull the regulator out)
  • if all looks good then simply connect your switch back, turn ignition on,, press the up on the switch and gently push the glass up,, chances are something got in the rail and stuck the glass..
well thats the fix.. BTW if you press the switch and you dont here the motor turn on ,, well you need to replace the regulator..

let me know what happens..

Check the switch with a voltage reader. if its not that then check the window motor. the wiring could have come loose or the window motor could be bad all together.

2009 GMC Sierra front windows will not roll down. The drivers side switch when pressed will cause a click in the passenger window, but will not roll down. The rear windows and mirrors work fine from the...

Most likely you have to replace the switch assembly on the driver side it probably got wet over the years from rain and snow and cause it to short out. Do not get a used part from a scrap yard because your end up with the same problems.

Rear windows won't go down

You also have Circuit Breakers for your windows, Or your Master Switch ,You can Test the Driver Control Switch or the rear switches by removing the Switches and using the connector Plug and a Jump wire try jumping accross the wires,if they go up or down you could have a Bad Switch,if nothing moves more than likely your Window Motor is bad. BUT first CHECK your Circuit Breakers ,It could be Labeled as accessery Relay or circuit Breaker.

The window on the driver side of my can does not go down but the rest of the windows of the car do. can this be a fuse problem? another thing, the window on the front passanger side does go down when the...

The driver side; it could be a dead motor. Do you hear the motor trying to go down? If there's nothing, its probably shot. But it wouldn't hurt to check the fuses to see if one is blown.

The 2nd question I do not understand. You say the window on the passenger side goes down when the button is pressed down. As its supposed to. So I am unsure about what you're asking there.

How to remove a driver side window switch

no. the drivers switch is the MASTER switch and not like the others. if the window goes up but not down, most likely the switch. get inside the car and open the door, as you are holing the window switch down, slam the door shut a few times, sometimes this will "jar" the window motor loose if it is stuck. if it works ok now, the window motor is jamming and will need replacement. another trick is to carefully watch the dome light as you are working the switch, if you push the switch down, and the dome light dims "slightly", the switch is good and the motor is stuck.

Driver side front and rear windows do not work

Look down inside the door arm rest with the switch out see if any wires are broken. And sometimes you have to change both switches. There are ways of testing but it's complicated.you have to test for feed and grounds for this problem.
